Senior Accountant - Bethesda, MD Overview:Red Coats Inc., a large commercial services company located in Bethesda Maryland is looking for someone who is upwardly mobile, with the desire to learn and progress with our team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing our financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This position's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in all major month-end closing activities and preparing monthly financial statements. Analyze and prepare monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. The role will include supporting the Finance department in a variety of projects from start to finish to ensure compliance and accuracy. We offer EXCELLENT BENEFITS - 401 (K) - GENEROUS PAID LEAVE AND PAID TUITION FOR CAREER ADVANCEMENT.Responsibilities:Prepare and post journal entries ensuring accuracy and completenessReconcile various general ledger accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved timelyPrepare and analyze monthly financial statementsMaintain and update month-end close checklists and calendarsEnsure compliance with internal controls and accounting policiesEnsure accuracy and completeness of the general ledgerPrepare account reconciliations and supporting documentationPrepare and maintain accruals and prepaid schedulesPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportsAnalyze financial data and provide variance explanationsCollaborate with other departments to gather and review financial informationAssist with audit processes, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit inquiriesEnsure adherence to GAAP and company accounting policiesIdentify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practicesParticipate in special projects and system implementations as neededQualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field requiredCPA designation or working toward it preferredMinimum of 1-3 years of experience in general ledger accounting, with a focus on month-end close, ideally in a service-oriented industryExperience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment preferredStrong knowledge of GAAP and financial reportingProficiency in accounting software (Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel required). Familiarity with Workday Finance a plus.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to meet tight deadlines and manage prioritiesDemonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a teamProactive attitude and willingness to take on additional responsibilitiesContinuous improvement mindsetThis is a full-time in office position.Red Coats offers comprehensive benefits package, including free parking.
