The Equipment Design Engineer II must maintain the engineering methods that support problem solving and continuous improvement efforts established by the Sr. Equipment Design Engineer and the Equipment Manager.Designs and develops complex equipment through to implementation and validationOrganizes and directs equipment launches and enhancementsMaintains quality work produced by the departmentInfluences team members and promotes idea to improve design and implementation practicesAnalyzes cost and benefits of various solutions, followed by appropriate recommendationsProduces drawings and data sheets to ensure compliance with design criteria standardsDirects preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned project phases and prepares required reports and summaries to communicate project progress or results.Ensures successful completion of assigned project phases within the budgeted time and cost constraints set forth for them by the Equipment Manager.Coordinates large and small projects through installation, issue identification, analysis and repairs.Defines process sequences and operational targets for automated lines and workflows.Collaborates with internal stakeholder as well as external automation design teamsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Design Engineering or related field of study3+ years of related work experience in Machine DesignPrior experience designing custom automation equipment and intricate mechanism designPrior hands-on experience beneficialDemonstrates creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practicesAbility and willingness to grow and learn in the jobAbility to conceptualize new automation techniques; design and implement these concepts on a continual basisWorking knowledge of a variety of technologies commonly used in automated equipment (motors, pneumatics, tooling and machine shop practices etc.)Strong hands-on prototyping abilitiesProficient in modeling & drafting software (AutoCad/Solidworks)Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skillsAbility to work cross-functionally to communicate clearly with non-experts about technical requirements and featuresAbility to prioritize multiple, competing priorities during high volume periodsStrong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and organizational skillsTeam player with proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authorityProficient in Microsoft Office Suite; PowerPoint, Word and ExcelBasic understanding of PLC programming, ladder logic, and input/output functionalityBasic understanding of electrical schematicsEast Penn offers excellent benefits:Competitive compensationGroup health insurance that includes high quality medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage with a low employee premiumRetirement Savings Plan with company match and a 3% employer contribution9 paid company holidays, 2 paid personal holidays, and 10 paid vacation days annuallyEmployee assistance programFitness DiscountsPromotional opportunities
