This position requires a highly skilled and compassionate individual dedicated to patient safety and quality care. The APP will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals at night. The Nocturnist APP’s primary focus will be on cross-cover care for patients, though they may also admit patients to the general medical floor from the emergency department or as a transfer from another facility, as well as provide hospital medicine consultations for specialists.Opportunity Highlights:Join an award-winning hospitalist program with more than 100 providersWork in a collegial and supportive environmentThe Hospitalist Program serves 5 major hospitals in the Sacramento area, the Nocturnist APP may work at two primary sitesHospitalists self-schedule themselves on a periodic basis, based on a flexible-scheduling modelKey Responsibilities:Direct patient care: Provide cross-coverage care to hospitalized patients as well as facilitate patient admissions, consults, transfers, and discharges, under the supervision of a hospitalist physicianAcute triage: Assess and manage acute changes in hospitalized patient conditionsDocumentation: Maintain accurate, timely, thorough records detailing patient care and transfer center requests at nightCollaboration and communication: Work with attending physicians, medical specialists, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient careScheduling/StructureFull-time clinical hospitalist position (1.0)Night shifts will be scheduled as 10-hour shifts, with flexible schedulingMaintains privileges at all Dignity-affiliated hospitalsNo procedures165 shifts per yearCompensation & Benefits:Compensation Range: $161,000 - $166,000 / Year DOESign-on bonus availableComprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability401(k) with employer matching, pension plan, and CME allowanceMalpractice coverage provided Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with relevant acute care experienceMinimum of 2 years of experience as an APP in an acute care setting encouraged but not requiredActive California medical license (or ability to obtain)DEA certification
