Description Youu2019ll work to help our patients check into the hospital. Itu2019s fast-paced on occasion and youu2019ll be the person they rely on to answer questions during registration. Youu2019ll build trust in these interactions by collecting information accurately and quickly but also by listening with compassion - not just to hear information, but to address their fears, concerns, and questions. u2022 Working on computers and answering phones to intake information in a busy environment. Youu2019ll work across multiple screens collecting details that must be input correctly between physician and nurse check-ins. You should feel comfortable working across multiple programs and typing as quickly as patients can talk. You will work around clinicians interrupting the registration process for emergent clinical care. u2022 Helping people who may be very ill or worried. Weu2019re not human computers intaking information. Patients need you to be there for them and listen carefully to ease their anxiety. Youu2019ll ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time. u2022 Fast-paced work environment, often on your feet assisting patients complete their registration. While collecting patient and insurance information may seem straightforward, there is a lot of variation in health plans and coverage, that will require knowledge through training. While the data you collect may be predictable, the people youu2019ll get it from arenu2019t. You must work quickly and expect the unexpected. Additional Skills & Qualifications To thrive in this job, youu2019ll need to be a confident multi-tasker who is a quick study with technology and can type and answer phones. You donu2019t need to have any previous experience or knowledge in healthcare. Since this is a hospital/lab environment, you will need to be prepared to see illness and injuries. Top 3 Hard Skills: Computer Basics (typing, using multiple systems concurrently), Medical Terminology (a plus but not required), Communication (professionalism, courtesy, empathy) Top 3 Soft Skills: Customer service, Dependability, Adaptability Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Butlerville, IN.
