Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Contact , the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistance Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm GENERAL DUTIES: The incumbent serves as the Lead Psychiatrist for the Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL) and fulfills the following distinct but interrelated functions: The Lead Psychiatrist is a permanent member of the Behavioral Health Executive Leadership Team (BHELT), which serves as the centralized leadership for the BHSL. The BHELT provides broad oversight to the entire service and reports directly to the Chief, Behavioral Health. The executive team is responsible for all functions of mental health services, including, but not limited to, patient care, staff support, business operations, performance measures, and quality improvement efforts. The Lead Psychiatrist oversees the practice of all psychiatrists and other prescribing non-physicians in Behavioral Health. The Lead Psychiatrist collaborates with the Chief of Behavioral Health and Chief of Staff to ensure the provision of high-quality patient care. The Lead Psychiatrist facilitates FPPE/OPPE and ongoing privileging of all psychiatrists and other prescribing non-physicians in Behavioral Health. The Lead Psychiatrist is responsible for psychiatry recruitment, completes annual evaluations, keeps personnel documentation up to date, completes Market Pay reviews, and evaluates physicians for performance pay. The Lead Psychiatrist, or designee, ensures Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education requirements are met for psychiatry residents and educational requirements are met for medical students when they rotate at Truman VA Hospital. They will be a member of the Residency Training Committee at University of Missouri-Columbia Department of Psychiatry. The Lead Psychiatrist supervises the BH Nurse Manager to ensure quality care for Veterans. The Lead Psychiatrist is a member of the facility's Peer Review Committee. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
