The In-Store Kubernetes team is building the platform that powers every Starbucks store in North America. As a Senior Engineer on ISK, youu2019ll work at the intersection of edge computing and cloud-native infrastructure, designing and operating the systems that keep tens of thousands of stores running reliably every day. Youu2019ll ship code that baristas and customers depend on from the moment the doors open, with direct visibility to Starbucks executive leadership. _As a Engineer Sr, you willu2026_ + Own edge infrastructure at massive scale build, automate, and maintain the Kubernetes-based platform deployed across thousands of stores, ensuring high availability and operational continuity for mission-critical in-store systems. + Solve hard distributed systems problems design resilient architectures that handle constrained resources, intermittent connectivity, and the unique challenges of running production workloads at the retail edge rather than in a traditional data center. + Accelerate developer productivity engineer the build, release, and telemetry pipelines that enable application teams to ship confidently and observe their services in production, reducing friction and speeding up the path from code to store. _Weu2019d love to hear from people with:_ u2022 4-8 years of professional industry experience with software development u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science or related field Preferred Qualifications: u2022 5+ years of experience in system administration, network administration, and systems engineering u2022 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl and/or Ruby. u2022 3+ years Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures u2022 Demonstrated ability to debug and optimize code, and automate routine tasks. u2022 Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems. u2022 Proven ability to translate insights into business recommendations u2022 Knowledge in application development and supporting a development environment u2022 Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google App Engine) u2022 Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, Data Protection, etc. u2022 Demonstrated experience implementing and managing high capacity, redundant, and mission critical environments u2022 Knowledge in databases and comfortable with various databases technologies u2022 Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, architecture and core technologies ( DNS, routing, iptables, tc, etc.) u2022 Experience running and maintaining a 24x7 production environment Years of experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills (minimum needed to be qualified): 5+ years As a Starbucks partner, you (and your family) will have access to medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, and other voluntary insurance benefits. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
