JOB REQUIREMENTS: Under general supervision performs clerical work of avaried nature, which calls for familiarity with basic agency and unitprocedure and the ability to exercise independent judgment in carryingout assignments. Performs clerical tasks for all Economic Supportprograms including Medicaid, Badgercare Plus, FoodShare, and Child Careassistance. Essential Duties Greets and assists consumers that come intothe Economic Support area. Determines consumer's reason for stoppinginto the agency and directs the person appropriately. Provides basicinformation on Economic Support programs and services. Notifiesappropriate staff person when an appointment is waiting by either directphone contact, email, voice mail message or computer system. Responds togeneral inquires about the process of applying for FoodShare, Medicaid,Badgercare Plus, Child Care, or any other programs administered throughBrown County Human Services as forms of public assistance: -queriesState computer system(s) and determines if an application is necessaryor other paperwork is needed to reopen an existing case -provides theappropriate application forms and, when necessary, answers questions orassists in form completion -directs those applying in person to theclient registration specialist for processing Responds to basicquestions relevant to case status and benefit issuance by researchingState computer system(s). Responds to questions regarding correspondencesent to customer by Economic Support Unit. Provides appropriatepaperwork/forms to the customer for the purposes of obtaining neededverification. Explains and assists in the proper completion of theforms. Explains relevant federal, state and agency policy and procedure.Performs client registration functions. Enters data into computer systemto register consumer for public assistance programs and schedulesappointments when applicable. Research requests before creating a newcase to avoid duplication and ensure accuracy. Determines if case meetspriority service standards, assigns case to Economic Support Specialist,and/or schedules appointment. Maintains application rotationspreadsheets. Maintains familiarity with community resources andpartnering agency services. Informs customers, inquiring aboutassistance, of relevant programs available as resources. Providescontact information when requested. Utilizes Customer Assistance forRe-employment and Economic Support (CARES), and CARES Worker Web(CWW)computer system to respond to consumer questions. Answers incomingphone calls on our main Economic Support phone line. Records andmaintains inventory of Foodshare Quest cards. Assists in issuingtemporary Foodshare Quest cards. Completes sorting, date stamping,coding, scanning and indexing incoming mail. Monitors inventory ofgeneral office supplies and places orders as directed. Manages theshared email inbox for Support Services. Offers timely responsesfollowing encryption rules. Serves as backup to various duties withinthe Support Services Unit. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Performs other relatedfunctions as assigned. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: General officeequipment Computer PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting 30 pounds maximum withfrequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 termittent standing, sitting and walking. Using hand(s)/feet forrepetitive single grasping, fine manipulation and pushing and municating orally in a clear manner. Distinguishing sounds at variousfrequencies and volumes. Distinguishing people or objects at varieddistances under a variety of light conditions. This position descriptionshould not be interpreted as all-inclusive. Knowledge of correct spelling,and proper grammar. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a computer andthe required software. Skilled in the operation of a variety of officemachines (i.e. copy machine, fax machine, telephone, and personalcomputer). Ability to perform varied and somewhat complex clericaltasks. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationshipswith staff and public. Ability to assume responsibility and to followestablished procedures. Ability to understand and carry out fairlycomplex oral and written instructions. Ability to communicateeffectively both orally and in writing.
