Eatonu2019s Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is hiring a Senior Microgrid Controls Engineer In this role, youu2019ll develop microgrid control solutions for customers across the U.S to achieve energy savings, reduce greenhouse emissions, improve system resiliency and realize energy independence. As part of our fieldu2011focused engineering team, our anticipated travel for the role is 35 % to support project execution and system commissioning. The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. In addition to salary, this role also offers paid overtime and a company vehicle. What youu2019ll do: As part of our Microgrid Controls Team, you will design, develop, test, implement and commission Microgrid Control solutions consisting of Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Diesel/Natural Gas and Generators for our customers, using Automation Controllers, HMIu2019s, Multi-function Protection Relays, and Data Concentrators from all major OEMu2019s. You will work independently on assigned project tasks with support and guidance from the Program Manager and other Microgrid Controls team members. You will work with multiple Eaton business groups as part of a project execution team to deliver a complete Microgrid power system solution while ensuring the project is delivered on-schedule and within budget. In this role, you will: u2022 Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Automation Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIu2019s) for Microgrid applications. u2022 Follow customers, drawings and specifications and internal specifications for project implementation. u2022 Select components and create bill of materials. u2022 Prepare submittal documentation for projects and meet with customers to discuss project requirements and review submittals. u2022 Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings. u2022 Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and test procedures. u2022 Review DER vendor submittals and coordinate control requirements with vendors. u2022 Collaborate with other Eaton business groups to ensure Microgrid solution meets design intent. u2022 Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required. u2022 Troubleshoot systems that are not functioning properly. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: + Bacheloru2019s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years of experience in power distribution controls applications. + Understanding of Electric Power Systems. + Understanding of Microgrid operations. + Understanding of DERs (PV, BESS, and Generators). + Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Preferred qualifications: u2022 PE License. u2022 Knowledge of electrical distribution equipment and components (low voltage switchboards, low voltage switchgear, medium voltage switchgear). u2022 Knowledge of Power Monitoring and Control Systems. u2022 Knowledge of Industrial Communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC-61850). u2022 Knowledge of Automation Controller Programming (CODESYS, ladder logic, structured text, function block diagram). u2022 Experience with Inductive Automationu2019s Ignition (Perspective). u2022 Experience with Automation Controllers, SCADA and industrial networks. u2022 Experience with multi-function protection relay based controls. u2022 Ability to clearly communicate technical topics to varying audiences of internal and external stakeholders. u2022 Field experience working on electrical distribution systems/equipment in commercial and industrial sites and knowledge of electrical safe work practices. #LI-LS3 The application window for this position is anticipated to close on April 1, 2026.
