Join a collaborative team caring for patients following complex thoracic, cardiac and vascular surgeries. UVA Health is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to bring their experience and passion to the management of our post-surgical patients. The role requires complex post-surgical monitoring where collaboration is key. Enjoy interacting with different specialties and providers to optimize patient outcomes and grow clinical skills. Schedule and Work Environment: u2022 Full time, clinical role on our inpatient Step-Down unit. u2022 12 hour shifts 3 to 4 times a week with rotating nights and weekends. Background checks and pre-employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety-sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen. Clinical + Provide independent and collaborative care to post-surgical patients. + Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing management of patients. + Support the evaluation and care coordination of patients + Participate in education, and post-surgical follow-up care. + Manage common pre- and post-procedure complications + Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatment options, and post-procedural care. + Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up care. + Ensures accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and adherence to UVA Health documentation and compliance standards. + Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and program development initiatives. + Contribute to quality improvement efforts, research, and/or educational outreach within the department of surgery. + Contributes to ongoing efforts to enhance care models that increase access and improve outcomes + Participates in divisional and departmental quality improvement, patient safety, and strategic planning initiatives. + Provides mentorship and education to students, and new staff members. + Advocates for access to health care through community partnerships, outreach, and systems-based improvement initiatives. Administration + Partners with APP and department leadership to optimize patient flow, operational efficiency, and access to care. + Supports implementation of enhanced care delivery models designed to improve patient health outcomes and satisfaction. + Participates in performance improvement, data reporting, and outcomes tracking for quality metrics. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a masteru2019s degree. Experience: Department and unit specific. Licensure: License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required. Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required, specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease. The starting base rate for this role is $124,845.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
