We are looking for leadership skills to develop a new group internally.If you are one who like to build a team, has strong skillsets and likes to see your own ideas come to life, apply quickly!SUMMARYThe Test Equipment Engineer will work with a team to design, build, program and support test equipment required forevaluating andvalidating our production parts. This equipment will range from basic holding fixtures through fully automated life cycle test systems. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands on work in a very dynamic setting and have previous automotive industry experience. The Test Equipment Engineer works closely with and provides training to the lab technicians, interfaces with the Product Engineer, Advanced Quality Engineer, and Validation Engineers to ensure the performance specification and product are understood. This position is a mix of mechanical, electrical and software engineering so an ability to learn new methods and skills is a must.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDesign and develop custom test fixtures and automated test systems for automotive component validation of STRATTEC products such as electromechanical Power Access units, latching systems, keyfobs, etc..Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layoutsSpecify and select instrumentation, sensors, DAQ systems, power supplies, and control hardwarePerform hands-on wiring, panel build support, and equipment integrationDebug and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control system issuesDevelop test interface hardware for DUT (Device Under Test) connectivitySupport mechanical design of fixture frames, brackets, enclosures, and structural componentsGenerate 3D models and basic mechanical drawings for fixture componentsCollaborate with test engineers to define test requirements and system architectureEnsure compliance with automotive, safety, and lab standardsGenerate documentation including schematics, BOMs, mechanical drawings, test procedures, and validation reportsSupport lab maintenance, calibration coordination, and continuous improvement initiativesProvide technical support during test execution and failure investigationsProve out new equipment, create method sheets and train lab personnel as required.Review performance specifications and verify that the test equipment produces relative results.Collaborate with the validation engineers and test lab coordinators to ensure the fixtures have the required mechanical and electrical interfaces.Collaborate with Product Engineering to ensure product is tested as intended.Verify equipment meets performance requirements at runoff.Generate cost reduction / avoidance ideas as it relates to Test System design and equipment construction.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience creating electrical schematics (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar)Hands-on experience with wiring, panel layout, and instrumentation integrationWorking knowledge of 3D CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)Proven experience with LabVIEW and National Instruments hardware (PCI, USB, cRIO and FPGA)Familiarity with data acquisition systems and laboratory instrumentationStrong troubleshooting skills with analog/digital circuits and electromechanical systemsUnderstanding of automotive electrical systems and testing environmentsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsProficient in Mechanical 3D CAD Design (NX, Catia, Creo, Solidworks, etc.)Understanding of engineering theory and principles of designExcellent problem solving skillsMust be very well organized, able to work well with a diverse cross-functional team and varying personalities/culturesAble to be a self-starter and willing to perform a wide range of engineering dutiesHigh level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficultEffective oral and written communication skillsHigh level of interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and with othersProven electro-mechanical knowledge requiredPrevious experience in a test laboratoryAutomotive experiencePreferred: Over ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience with PLCs, automation systems, or LabVIEWExperience with CAN, LIN, or other automotive communication protocolsKnowledge of automotive validation standards (e.g., environmental, durability, or EMC testing)Experience working in ISO/quality-controlled lab Experience with DC motors, servo motors, sensors, pneumatics and/or controllersExperience with customersLabVIEW certification (CLD, CLAD, CLED)LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
