Senior Electrical Field Service Technician

Shermco Industries is accredited by NETA and has one of the largest field services divisions in the industry.Shermco Industries is seeking a Senior Electrical Field Service TechnicianPosition Purpose:The Senior Service Technician is responsible for leading and supervising all activities performed by the service department while in the field. The service department is responsible for the maintenance, testing and repair of electrical equipment at customer locations throughout the region.Field Service Test Technicians travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems.Able to travel to customer job sites across the state and bordering states.Instrument transformer tests.Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.Preferred if proficient in testing both electro-mechanical and solid-state relaysCable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.Low, Medium and High voltage switchgear and circuit breaker testing.Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.Education and Training:High School diplomaAdvanced knowledge of electrical calculationsHands on electrical and mechanical skills and experienceThorough Understanding of AC & DC TheoryUnderstanding of short circuit analysisAbility to perform equipment failure analysisAdvanced knowledge and application of NEC, NETA StandardsAdvanced computer skillsSafety:100 hours of safety trainingFirst AidCPRFire ProtectionConfined SpacePPE Selection and ApplicationLockout/TagoutSwitching and GroundingExperience:5+ yearsMaster Electrician or JourneymanOther Requirements:Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug testsMust be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background checkAll offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical examMust have a valid driver’s license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving recordMust be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travelU.S. passport & TWIC card a plusMust be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.If applying for position, must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit).Must be willing to travelMust be able to read, write, and speak English fluentlyEQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER | DRUG-FREE WORKPLACEShermco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
