See details about what we do.This position is a member of our Air Quality Division.HEREand#8217;S WHAT YOUand#8217;LL BE DOINGEvaluate and prepare complex engineering reports of anthropogenic emissions inventory data. Run and/or develop ad hoc queries from program area databases (State of Texas Air Reporting System and/or Texas Air Emissions Repository), and develop visualizations (e.g., graphics, charts) based on retrieved data. Prepare datasets for posting on Microsoft Teams, the internet, or sharing with stakeholders, including legislative interests.Develop, coordinate, and complete complex emissions inventory projects, including state implementation plan (SIP) emissions inventories, ensuring agency, division, and section project management procedures are followed. Conduct project activities related to the development, quality assurance, and/or engineering evaluation of nonpoint emissions data for SIP purposes. Design internal applications and/or develops code for team projects to streamline and automate SIP emissions inventory calculations.Participate in global quality assurance efforts to improve emissions inventory datasets. Conduct quality assurance on anthropogenic emissions data from point, area, and mobile sources using mathematical methods and computer models to verify emissions data and related calculations.Develop Microsoft Teams and Web applications and documents. Make applications and documents available on TCEQ external or internal websites and Teams channels in coordination with the section's lead internet developer. Review materials posted on agency websites for conformity to agency standards, including accessibility standards.KEY QUALIFICATIONSExperience reviewing and assessing scientific or technical data in a work setting (including internships).Experience working with air related issues: modeling, emissions assessment, site assessments, permitting, monitoring, and/or other technical air issues.Experience with developing and/or managing technical projects.Qualifications: REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCEA bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus two years of full-time experience in environmental activities.One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.ORA masterand#8217;s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, plus one year of the required experience.ORA doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, environmental studies, or related fields.Career Ladder ProgressionTwo years of full-time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist II at TCEQ.Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business Commerce Code Section 117.001(2).
