Agricultural Loan OfficerAgriculture loan officers, or agricultural lenders, work to help farmers and rural citizens obtain funds needed to fund their operations, purchase property, and more. Ag lending is more than just cold-calling prospects. The right individual will need to meet with farmers and business owners face-to-face to build relationships. Knowledge of the industry, the market area, and keeping up to date with rules and regulations. This company is looking for an individual who is family-oriented and has a passion for the Ag industry and helping others.Agricultural Loan Officer Requirements:Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)2+ years of lending experience, preferably in agricultural and/or commercial bankingStrong understanding of ag operations, crop and livestock production, and rural business challengesExcellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skillsKnowledge of banking regulations, loan documentation, and risk management practicesAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a small, team-oriented environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office and loan processing softwareBe able to lift &/or carry up to 50 lbsBe able to sit or stand for extended periods of time Responsibilities In this role, you’ll develop strong personal relationships with clients, understand their financial needs, and provide lending solutions that support growth and long-term successAs part of a small and collaborative team, you’ll also work closely with internal staff to ensure smooth loan processes and exceptional customer serviceClient Relationship Management:Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with agricultural producers, business owners, and community leadersConduct regular client meetings and on-site visits to understand operational needs, financial goals, and evolving challengesAct as a trusted advisor and problem-solver, offering strategic advice and tailored solutionsServe as a liaison between lending and other departments to ensure alignment on client strategy and service deliveryBusiness Development & Community Engagement:Proactively identify and pursue new loan and deposit opportunities through regular calling on prospective and existing agricultural and commercial clientsDevelop and execute a structured calling plan to build a strong pipeline of qualified prospectsRepresent the bank at local agricultural events, business gatherings, and community activitiesBuild partnerships with centers of influence such as accountants, attorneys, farm advisors, and real estate professionals to generate referralsPromote the bank’s commitment to community development and support for local industryLoan Origination and Servicing:Analyze financial statements, credit history, collateral, and other relevant data to assess creditworthinessStructure, underwrite, and present loan requests for approval in accordance with bank policy and regulatory guidelinesMonitor existing loan relationships, including managing delinquent accounts, annual reviews, renewals, and risk assessmentsCoordinate with credit analysts, loan operations, and management to ensure timely and accurate loan processingParticipate in loan committee meetings (as needed) and contribute to lending decisions with sound judgmentServe as a resource to other departments on agricultural and commercial lending mattersIdentify and recommend appropriate bank products and services, such as treasury management, business & personal deposit accounts, merchant services, and retail/residential financingPartner with all areas/departments of the bank and leverage internal tools and customer insights to deliver comprehensive financial solutions This opportunity includes an excellent compensation and benefits package.
