Entry Level Distribution Engineer

Job Title: Distribution EngineerJob Description We are seeking Entry Level Distribution Engineers to join our team in Florida, supporting power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects. The role involves engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorating cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring existing distribution lines, and replacing aging poles. Engineering calculations include structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. Responsibilities + Perform engineering calculations for structural analysis of poles, guying, and cable pulling. + Design solutions for replacing deteriorating cable and reconductoring existing distribution lines. + Move overhead lines to underground as part of storm hardening projects. + Coordinate protective devices and conduct fault current analysis. + Collaborate with utility companies for infrastructure upgrades. Essential Skills + Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical) from a 4-year ABET-Accredited College or University. + Basic knowledge of electric utility industry concepts, including primary and secondary distribution systems. + Ability to use design software packages and general construction knowledge. + Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles. + Strong written and oral communication skills, with frequent customer communication. + Strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and initiative. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Leadership or customer interaction experience in a different industry (retail, restaurant, etc.). + Experience on the Duke system, performing distribution design. + Experience interacting with customers and developers for distribution projects. + Current knowledge of BOUD/Maximo, Smallworld, Bentley Open Utility Designer, and Microstation. + EIT/Passed Engineering Fundamentals Exam. Work Environment Work is performed at our Maitland office, within a collaborative team environment. Entry Level individuals receive extensive On-The-Job Training. The office is comprised of approximately 40-50 Engineers and Designers, fostering a supportive and positive atmosphere. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maitland, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.
