General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.We currently have an exciting opportunity within our corporate Facilities group as an HVAC Technician, based in the San Diego, California region.Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for servicing, modifying, rebuilding, and repairing the facility mechanical equipment including air-conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, heating, plumbing, and mechanical systems in accordance with applicable building codes, plumbing and mechanical codes, manufacturer's operation and maintenance manuals, and safety regulations.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs preventive maintenance on plant air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation, heating, plumbing and mechanical equipment. Performs leak checks on refrigeration systems. Starts, operates and shuts down HVAC and plumbing systems. Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC and plumbing systems. Overhauls air compressors, re-circulating water pumps and sewer system transfer pumps. Calibrates, adjusts, and repairs electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls and devices. Injects chemical water treatment into open and closed re-circulating systems to maintain proper water chemistry. Prepares and submits prints, sketches, layouts, and material lists as required to facilitate repairs and/or modifications to mechanical equipment. May operate and maintain the centralized site Energy Management Control System. Participates in operating and identifying issues with Direct Digital Controls (DDC). Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. , , Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. , Additional Functions May assist facilities maintenance with in various areas including plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc. May perform building maintenance tasks as required.
