Job DescriptionOverview This role involves handling and installing CAT5 and CAT6 lowu2011voltage cabling within a data center environment. Technicians will install cable on mounted trusses, Ju2011hooks, and strut systems to connect equipment and servers. Work may take place on elevated surfaces such as ladders and scissor lifts and may require overhead fall protection. Shifts can range from 10u201312 hours depending on project demands, averaging 50u201360 hours per week. Weekend work may occasionally be required on a caseu2011byu2011case basis. Job Summary A Communications Technician I is an entryu2011level role, ideal for candidates with 0u20131 year of experience in the structured cabling or lowu2011voltage industry. This position provides handsu2011on exposure and the opportunity to grow within a technical installation team. Key ResponsibilitiesCabling & Installation + Install worku2011area outlets for floor monuments, modular furniture, and walls. + Route cable down walls using fish tape or similar tools. + Run cable through modular furniture. + Perform preu2011termination tasks: organizing, dressing, forming, and labeling cables; determining correct cable length and slack. + Properly suspend and support cabling using trays, Ju2011hooks, Du2011rings, bridal rings, and trapeze systems. Closet & Rack Buildu2011Outs + Build and install backboards, racks, patch panels, crossu2011connects, and fiber hardware. + Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cabling as needed. Fireu2011Stopping & Penetration Work + Conduct fireu2011stopping procedures, including installing sleeves and pulling cable through penetrations. Device Termination + Terminate lowu2011voltage devices and ensure proper functionality. Documentation & Safety + Complete all project paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, etc.). + Adhere to company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards. + Support additional duties as assigned. QualificationsPhysical Requirements + Ability to work indoors or outdoors in active construction environments. + Capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and from ladders. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs. + Ability to distinguish colors, read small print, and identify audible signals. + Must be able to travel within the assigned territory as needed. Tools Required + Screwdrivers (regular & Phillips) + Drywall saw + Torpedo level + Tape measure + Snips with belt sheath + Needleu2011nose and channelu2011lock pliers + Hammer + Wrench set + Cable stripper + Flashlight + Gloves Education & Experience + High School Diploma or GED required. + 0u20131 year experience in telecommunications, structured cabling, or a related field. + Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn. + Basic construction knowledge preferred. + Ability to meet company driving standards is preferred. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
