About Camp Mather Each summer, the Recreation and Park Department operates Camp Mather, a rustic family campground located near Yosemite National Park, about 3 hours east of San Francisco. Each week, approximately 500 campers enjoy a week-long stay filled with a wide range of recreation activities such as a supervised swimming pool, a scenic lake for water activities, guided hiking excursions, organized recreation programs, and evening campfire entertainment. Guests stay in cozy cabins, and enjoy 3 delicious meals each day, served cafeteria-style with a full salad bar and exceptional service. Learn more about Camp Mather on YouTube:u00a0 Under immediate supervision, performs a wide variety of manual work involved in the storage, preparation and serving of food in an institutional kitchen or dining area; keeps kitchens, dining rooms and associated equipment in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition; and performs related duties as required.u00a0 Examples of Essential Dutiesu00a0 + Sets up food counters and tables; prepares simple foods such as toast, cereal, sandwiches, salads and boiled eggs; prepares food for serving by cutting, slicing and dishing up portions for customers and patients, including special diet preparations;u00a0 + Washes, cleans and peels potatoes, shells peas and otherwise prepares food for cooking;u00a0 + Operates power tools and equipment used in the preparation of liquid and solid foods;u00a0 + Serves food to customers and patients in cafeterias, dining halls and hospital wards;u00a0 + Cleans dishes, utensils, storage spaces, equipment, containers, tables, floors and other areas when required; sterilizes food containers;u00a0 + Performs routine auxiliary tasks such as carrying supplies to and from storage rooms; controlling the use of meal cards and distributing linen supplies; andu00a0 + May assist in the preparation of special diet foods when required.u00a0 2026 Camp Mather Dates: April 19, 2026: Arrival at camp.u00a0 September 25, 2026:Conclusion ofcamp assignmentu00a0 Policies and Expectations of Staff Employees are expected to follow the policies as described in the Camp Mather 2026 Workplace Policies and Expectations.u00a0 Failure to follow these policies may result in termination. Working Conditions at Camp Matheru00a0 Housing and Meals:u00a0during employment, FREE meals and housing is provided to camp employees. Camp staff live in shared housing with up to 1-2 other camp staff. Nature of work:u00a0includes working both indoors and outdoors, exposure to sun and high temperatures, and will regularly encounter bugs and insects. Work Schedule:u00a0The work week is typically five (5) days. Kitchen staff may be required to work an alternate work schedule consisting ofu00a010 u2013 12 hour shifts with appropriate breaks or work six (6) days (limited tou00a040 hours in a work week), during the high season to accommodate the needs of the department. Shifts may also include weekends and evenings.u00a0Sundayu00a0and Monday are mandatory workdays - the one days off will be scheduled during theu00a0remainderu00a0of the week.
