We are looking for a dedicated Certified Respiratory Therapist CRT like you to be a part of our team.Job Summary and QualificationsAdministers respiratory care to patients as ordered by the attending physician.Conducts diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, itiates, monitors andmaintainsmechanically ventilated patientsAssistswith placement of artificial airwaysPerforms and documents patient assessment including but not limited to breath sounds, airwaypatencyand cuff pressure at least once per shiftVerifies and documents ventilator functionand patient status q4h minimumAssistswith transportation of ventilator-dependent patientsAssistsat deliveries as requested for neonatal resuscitation and/or stabilizationAdministers andmonitorsrespiratory care treatmentsAdministers therapy according toestablisheddepartmental policyEvaluates patient within 2 hours of notification of respiratory therapy orders and initiates as statedInstructs patient and family members in proper methods of respiratory therapyAt end of shift, assures assigned areas are stocked asrequiredResponds promptly to treatment needs in Emergency DepartmentRespondsimmediatelytoemergencycodes and correctly manages the airway and external compressionsRespondsimmediatelyto allemergentpatient situations including but not limited to Rapid Response, Stroke Alert,StemiAlert and Trauma Alert.Promptly sets up oxygen new starts per department policyFollows established hospital and departmental infection control policiesRecords pertinent information in patient’s medical recordAccurately documents all respiratory care interventions during assigned shiftDocuments patient and family educationMaintains up-to-date departmental recordsEnters charges per shift for services performed/providedProvides oncoming shift with current andaccuratepatient reportPerforms noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests and monitoringPerforms arterial blood gas sampling and analyses and communicates “critical” valuesimmediatelyper department policyPerforms pulmonary function tests ordered in pulmonary function laboratory and reports tests within 3 hoursPerforms beside spirometry and accurately records resultsPerforms peak flow, inspiratory and expiratory force, vital capacity measurements and accurately records resultsMonitors pulse oximetry, transcutaneous C02 and end-tidal C0P2 levelsPerforms EKGs as orderedPerforms cleaning, preventive maintenance and calibration of RC equipment asrequiredCleans, assembles, verifies function of ventilators and documents same prior to patient useCleans,calibratesand maintains PFT equipment per manufacturing specifications and department policy.Perform arterial blood gas instrumentation calibration and maintenance per CAP requirementsCalibrates and troubleshoots TCM and oxygen analyzersFunctions as respiratory care protocol assessorAssesses patient per physician-approved criteria (RCP) within 1 hour of receipt of order and documents sameWrites correct therapy orders based onaccuratetriage score in physician’s order sheet under “RCP”Delivers initial therapies as orderedReassesses patient within establishedtime frame, changing therapy asindicatedand documents sameConveys all RCP therapies -initialand changes - toappropriate staffmembers and documents same in departmental records.What qualifications you will need:Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateBasic Cardiac Life Support(NBRC-CRT) Certified Respiratory Therapist(RCP-State) Respiratory Therapist/PractitionerHigh School Graduate / GED, or Vocational School GraduateSt. David’s Medical Center, part of St. David’s HealthCare, is a comprehensive medical facility with three locations: St. David’s Medical Center, Heart Hospital of Austin, and St. David’s Georgetown Hospital.
