We seek employees who bring different and innovative ways of seeing the world and solving problems.Working under the immediate supervision of a pharmacist, theCommunity Site Pharmacy Technician IIinteracts with health care providers to perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks including preparing intravenous admixtures, triaging medication-related communications, and maintaining the electronic medical record.This is a per diem role with a variable schedule Monday thru Friday working 8 hour shifts from 7am to 5pm. This role will primarily support our community sites at Overlake, Evergreen, and Northwest locations dependent on clinical need.Prepare, package, and label medication in an accurate and efficient mannerCompounding of sterile intravenous admixtures including hazardous, non-hazardous, and Investigational Drug Service medicationsAssist in the training of pharmacy technicians, apprentices, and internsTriage incoming phone calls and electronic messages relating to medicationsInteract with professional and technical staff in a courteous mannerCleaning and restocking sterile compounding areasOther pharmacy related duties in accordance with regulations under Washington State Pharmacy Quality Assurance CommissionOther duties as assignedInvestigational Drug Management:Additional training requirements include (training provided during onboarding): CITI/human subjects, Aurora/Florence, Vestigo, Epic Willow AmbulatoryVestigo documentationLog into Vestigo program daily and complete any pharmacy tasks for their siteManage inventory of investigational product (IP), including independently ordering drug within scope of authority, receiving, organizing and monitoring the use of IP and following IDS destruction policy when applicableMaintain separate supplies of IP for trials that have this requirementMay be asked to serve as a delegate on research studyInventory/Purchasing:Responsible for ordering adequate drug for the site they work atMaintain adequate on-site drug inventory to meet patient needsPerform inventory outdates to check for any expired productsAssist site Pharmacist Lead with returning drugs that are no longer needed or expired (Inmar returns)Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM):Monitoring ADM when drug stock is out or running lowPreparing stock for pharmacist check, restocking and completing documentation of ADM (i.e. Omnicell, Pyxis)E-boxes/crash carts:Complete regular e-boxes/code cart checks to ensure adequate drug stock and no expired drugsPrepare restocking of e-boxes and crash carts as needed for pharmacist final check and then complete restockRequired:High school diploma or equivalent1 year pharmacy technician experience or completion of Fred Hutch pharmacy apprentice programCurrent Washington state pharmacy technician certificationAbility to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise and professional mannerAbility to perform basic pharmaceutical calculationsAbility to use a mouse, navigate computer programs, enter data into computer systems accurately and efficientlyPreferred:Knowledge and experience compounding sterile intravenous admixturesKnowledge and experience working with hazardous medicationsKnowledge of and experience with electronic medical recordsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively as a member of a teamPre Employement Drug Screening:As a condition of employment Fred Hutch conducts pre-employment drug testing for this pharmacy role. All offers of employment in the pharmacy department are conditional on the applicant successfully completing and passing a drug test in accordance with the Fred Hutch policy.The hourly pay range for this position is from $38.43 to $57.63, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.This is a per diem role with a variable schedule Monday thru Friday working 8 hour shifts from 7am to 5pm.
