Reporting to the Manager HR - Operations, the Sr. Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the planning and delivery of organizational Human Resources (HR) initiatives in the areas of employee relations, policy and procedure development, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, and training, that support the Company’s business objectives and strategies for the Locomotive field maintenance locations in Texas, Louisiana and North Carolina. Based at the LaPorte, Texas Mobile Repair Unit, this individual is a member of the Locomotive Maintenance Operations leadership team and the Business Partner to the Director, Locomotive Maintenance Operations and the other members of the Locomotive Maintenance Operations leadership team, including maintenance location leaders. This position gives support and guidance to locomotive maintenance personnel in all aspects of the human resources function, and ensures that plans and objectives are clearly communicated, fair and competitive, and in compliance with federal and state laws. Employee RelationsDirectly responsiblefor dealing with employee relations issues. Involvementincludes: problem solutionandcounseling the staff and supervisors on allemployee relationsmatters.Direct investigations of complaints under the guidance of theManagerHRregardingbreaches of company policies. Summarize facts for presentation to upper management and the Chicago office. Make recommendations on theappropriate courseof action.Assistin providing guidance on the plant rules and attendance policy.Promote positive employee relationscompany-wide, ensuring fair andequitabletreatment for all employees.Administer provisions of company policies and guidelines; counsel management to ensure compliance.Manage the separation process,including conducting exit interviews todeterminethe underlying reasons for termination of employment,drafting separation letters,andensuringcommunication of final pay/final work data to other HR/Operations functions.Talent and Performance Management/ Organizational DevelopmentDevelop, manage, and supportprograms that ensure professional development of employees across the organization.Provide support for initiatives that promoteemployee engagement andinclusion.Manage the hiring process by creating job postings, reviewing resumes and applications, performing telephone interviews,and coordinating other interviews.Develop andmaintainprofessional relationships with university,communitycollegeand trade schoolplacement offices as a source to generate qualified applicants.Prepare offer letters and make offers of employment.Seek consultation from theManager HRfor salaried employee offer letters.Partner withthehiring managers, andTalent, Learning & Developmentto manage the new hire onboarding process, includingfacilitatingLearning Pathsupervisor and mentor activities, management reviews, and survey completion; documenting Learning Path completion through PeopleSoft data entry; andconductingHR components of Learning Paths.Provide support, feedback, and coaching for employees and managerswith regard tojobs and performance.Partner with business leaders to provide ongoing performance management support and guidance.Analyzework issues, personnel placement, and other strategic issues with site managers and salaried staff.Ask pertinentquestions, andoffer alternative solutions.Assistin the development and implementation of training initiatives,policiesand procedures that support the business.Operational ExcellenceManage,communicateand guide programs that support the business.Generate strategies that enhance engagement, attraction,developmentand retention of employees.Responsible for overseeing all aspects of administration for employees, employee counseling,insuranceand pension coordination,recruitingand hiring, EAP, tuition aid, etc.Ensure the locomotive teamhas efficient and consistent human resources processes including:Manage hiring and separation processes including developing offer letters and separation agreements and ensuring communication of pay, benefits, and other information to other HR/Operations functions.Managepayrollprocess, supporting managers insubmittingpayroll.Manager attendance tracking process.Ensure compliant employeerecordsretention practices and support transitioning of terminated employee files to electronic records.Work with HRManager, leave coordinator and managers to manage and track all leaves of absence.Bachelor’s in Business Administration/OrganizationalBehavior/ Human Resources, or equivalent, oran equivalentcombination of education and experience.A minimum of3yearsHuman Resource generalist experience; experiencein manufacturing or related industrypreferred.Computer literate in a variety of applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;experiencewith applicant tracking systemsa plus.HRCertificationa plus.Validdriver’slicense.TransportationWorkerIdentificationCredential(TWIC), or theabilitytoobtain.Other (i.e., physical requirements, travel, etc. that is not covered above):Some travelrequired, including to other Locomotive maintenance locations and US corporate headquartersAbility to work in amaintenanceenvironment safely and effectivelyThis posting will remain open until the role is filled.As of the post date, the salary range for this position is:USD $80,800.00/Yr.USD $84,000.00/Yr.This role may be eligible to participate in the Company’s short-term incentive plan, the details of which will be provided to the applicant upon hire.
