Job Title: Construction Materials Technician Job Description We are seeking Construction Materials Testing Technicians to support infrastructure projects around Central Ohio. As part of an industry-leading engineering firm specializing in construction inspection and testing, the Technician is responsible for conducting various tests and inspections on building materials such as concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates. These activities ensure compliance with project specifications and codes and are performed in the field on active construction and infrastructure job sites. Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors on construction sites in various weather conditions and will travel locally using a company truck or personal vehicle based on availability. Responsibilities + Perform material testing of asphalt, soils, aggregates, and concrete at placement on active construction sites. + Interpret specifications and working drawings. + Conduct field inspection, testing, sampling, equipment use, and maintenance on assigned projects. + Obtain and record field data legibly and organized, as required by plans, specifications, or project staff, and generate field reports. + Record daily installed construction quantities. + Communicate effectively with team members on construction sites, including contractors and owneru2019s representatives. + Maintain communication with all entities, ensuring everyone is fully informed. Essential Skills + Construction materials testing experience (2+ years ). + ODOT Asphalt Level 2 Technician certification (level 2 or higher required). + High school diploma. + Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. + Ability and willingness to work variable schedules, long hours, and weekends as required. Additional Skills & Qualifications + ACI, Nuclear Gauge, NICET, and other relevant certifications preferred. + Experience with asphalt testing, blueprint interpretation, and aggregate testing. + Quality inspection skills. Work Environment Work is performed on construction sites outdoors year-round. The role involves a variable schedule with occasional overtime and weekend work required. Employees may utilize a company truck or personal vehicle for local travel to job sites. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
