Purchasing Supervisor

Job Title: Purchasing Supervisor Job Description The Purchasing Supervisor oversees daily procurement activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, supplies, and services. This role manages vendor relationships, negotiates pricing and contracts, monitors inventory levels, and ensures compliance with company purchasing policies. Additionally, the supervisor leads and supports the purchasing team, resolves escalated issues, and drives process improvements to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance. Responsibilities + Oversee and manage daily procurement activities. + Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships. + Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers. + Monitor inventory levels to ensure timely acquisition of materials. + Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies. + Lead and support the purchasing team in resolving escalated issues. + Drive process improvements for optimized cost, quality, and delivery. + Purchase raw materials for production, including non-inventory items, office supplies, and capital investments. + Enforce MRP strategy to prevent stock-outs while minimizing inventory levels. + Implement lean manufacturing and just-in-time inventory methodologies. + Conduct vendor research, certification, bidding, and price negotiation. + Set up, maintain, and evaluate vendors, rating suppliers on various performance criteria. + Adhere to Quality ISO 9001 policies and procedures. + Optimize MRP parameters, adjusting safety-stock, reorder levels, carrying costs, and lead times as necessary. + Verify purchase order unit prices against supplier invoices. + Maintain cost price changes in the ERP system. + Obtain bids for materials and support production planning and inventory reconciliation. + Track deliveries from both domestic and international vendors. + Allocate and manage personnel structure and staffing levels within the purchasing team. + Train and evaluate employees to enhance their performance and development. Essential Skills + Proficiency in SAP and ERP systems. + Strong planning and procurement skills. + Experience in inventory management and strategic planning. + Project management skills. + Manufacturing experience is required. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in purchasing raw materials for production. + Knowledge of lean manufacturing and just-in-time inventory methodologies. + Familiarity with Quality ISO 9001 policies. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr. We offer either a PPO or HDHP, dental, and vision.The company pays for STD, LTD, and a Life Insurance policy of $20kWe also have a 401k and match 50% up to 6%, Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in Dunlap,TN.
