GENERAL PURPOSE: To lead, direct, develop and coordinate the outbound flow of merchandise from distribution centers to crossdocks. This position will monitor and adjust the workflow and staff based on volume and productivity needs. The outbound flow of merchandise must be provided at an economical level according to Ross service requirements. This position will interface with carriers, crossdock providers, and Ross departments or divisions as appropriate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: u2022 Responsible for the analysis and execution of optimal equipment levels for multiple DCs based on carrier volume forecasts. u2022 Supervise a staff of 2-4 associates coordinating the outbound supply-chain activity, routing and tracking over 100K shipments annually from our distribution centers to our crossdocks and trailer transfer volumes. u2022 Execute and implement the transportation plan for outbound freight from Ross distribution centers to crossdocks. Provide analysis and support to the outbound group in all areas of outbound transportation, including routing guide compliance, transit, tracking & tracing. This will be accomplished through analysis and execution of TMS systems. u2022 Develop and implement cost savings and/or service improvement programs and provide analytical data to support results. u2022 Support customer service to multiple divisions with Ross to resolve any Transportation-related issues or problems. COMPETENCIES: u2022 Motivation u2022 Initiating Change u2022 Leadership u2022 Credibility u2022 Commitment u2022 Collaboration QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: u2022 Must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to communicate with all levels and departments both within and outside the company. u2022 High level working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access u2022 Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills u2022 4-6 years' experience in a transportation atmosphere u2022 4-6 years of supervisory experience u2022 Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in work experience u2022 Experience with TMS transportation systems Preferred Qualifications u2022 College degree in Transportation or Logistics u2022 7-8 years of transportation operationsstaff experience with knowledge of carrier logistics u2022 7-8 years of supervisory experience u2022 Experience with hands-on utilization of current supply-chain software applications and systems u2022 Transportation background within the retail industry u2022 Strong self-motivation and the ability to work aggressively to complete projects PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA: Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance. Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically. No unusual physical requirements. Requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; travel or other inconveniences have advance notice; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor. Job frequently requires sitting, handling objects with hands. Job occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 10 pounds. This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback.
