Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until April 20, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be February 23, 2026, with subsequent cut-off dates every 2 weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting General Description: The service is directed by the Chief of the Diagnostic Imaging Service, who is a radiologist and a physician member of the staff. Diagnostic Imaging Service is comprised of radiologists (full-time, fee basis, and contract), diagnostic radiologic technologists, cardiac technologists, radiology nursing staff, and administrative/clerical support personnel who all participate in patient care as outlined above. Specific Duties of the Chief of Diagnostic Imaging Service: Leadership and Management: Provide overall leadership and management of the Diagnostic Imaging Service, ensuring that all staff maintain high standards of care and professionalism. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality diagnostic services. Foster a collaborative environment among multidisciplinary teams within the service. Lead and participate in strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives for the service. Clinical Oversight: Oversee the scheduling and allocation of resources, including staff and equipment, to maximize efficiency and patient care. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of care. Review and approve radiology reports and ensure timely and accurate dissemination of imaging results. Address complex clinical cases and provide expert opinion and guidance on diagnostic imaging. Education and Training: Develop and oversee training programs for radiologists, technologists, and support staff. Mentor and support the professional development of radiologists within the service. Ensure ongoing educational programs to keep staff current with advancements in imaging technology and techniques. Actively participate in and support research activities within the department. Administrative Duties: Manage budgeting and financial planning for the Diagnostic Imaging Service. Ensure efficient and effective use of departmental resources. Coordinate with other departments and hospital leadership to integrate diagnostic imaging services into overall patient care. Patient and Staff Safety: Ensure all safety protocols and procedures are strictly followed to protect patients and staff. Lead the development and implementation of safety initiatives, including radiation safety and infection control. Address and resolve any safety concerns promptly. Administration: Completion of mandatory training on a yearly basis Participation in Quality Management Peer Review activities as requested by Quality Management Manager, Chief of Service Line (or designee), or Chief of Staff Compliance with all VASNHCS Memoranda and directives; local and federal laws; and scopes of practice for all members of the healthcare team, particularly: Ethics and conflict of interest HIPAA (patient privacy) and Cyber Security.
