Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities The Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) Staff Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological assessments and/or neuropsychological screening measures, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. They consult with medical staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Staff Psychologists may be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities. VA Careers - Psychologist: Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major Duties: The HBPC Staff Psychologist provides in-home and virtual assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological conditions, with an emphasis on the application of time-limited, evidence-based approaches. They will provide behavioral/health/and motivational interventions for, but not limited to, the management of pain, disability, sleep problems, facilitate weight management, smoking cessation and improve adherence to medical plans of care. Performs evaluations of Veterans with a variety of psychological, mood, neurocognitive, and personality disorders. They provide screening and brief assessments for cognitive decline and referrals for further neuropsychological evaluations when indicated. The assessment is integrated into an overall plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team, the Veteran, family members and significant others, whenever possible. The Psychologist consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. They serve as a consultant to other medical center staff as requested and assists in their formulation of the psychological characteristics and appropriate treatment expectations regarding their patients, especially in the area of complex patients. Attends and participates in organizational meetings, treatment planning meetings and assigned committees or projects. Participates in the development of individual plans of care at interdisciplinary care meetings for assigned panel of patients. Understands the intimidation of bureaucracy and will act as an advocate when it serves the best interest of the Veteran/family. Experience in making rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans for admission to mental health inpatient programs when needed or other higher level of care options. Will review the progress notes from other provides to accurately determine the strengths and limitation sof each Veteran being referred for mental health services. Will enter all Veteran/family contacts in the electronic record using appropriate formats and templates. Performs all other duties as assigned. Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
