Job Summary EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Part time Building Engineer at our U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum account in Washington, DC . This position monitors all the major mechanical systems of the facility through the use of various monitoring systems. The Building Engineer is responsible to respond during fire alarm situations and assists the local Fire Department upon arrival. This is a position that requires clear and effective communication skills plus the operational understanding of numerous mechanical systems to include but not limited to building HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. This position is covered by the CBA for Local 99. The Work schedule is Saturday and Sunday 10am - 6pm Position is contingent upon award #EGS #LI-NS1 Essential Duties & Responsibilities u2022 Represents EMCOR for all facility emergencies until relieved by a member of management. Contacts management with status of all facility emergencies or unusual events (examples: fire alarms, critical equipment shutdowns and electric power outages). Coordinates emergency interactions with designated Facilities Management Department representatives. Maintain alertness and responsiveness at all times. u2022 Monitors the mechanical systems through the use of the Building Automation System (BAS). This includes an active search of system information and functionality during the assigned shift. Clearly record all unusual events and pertinent information in the shift log book. A complete understanding of the repercussions of inoperable critical equipment is prudent. u2022 Executes all work in a safe and professional manner by completing all work accurately and on time. u2022 Installs, services, and maintains environmental control systems, utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting, and structural layout. u2022 Performs maintenance and repairs of: All fired or unfired pressure vessels and vacuum systems. All refrigeration and air conditioning machinery and their associated equipment. All air handling and distribution equipment. u2022 Starts systems, observes operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as actuators, valves, controls, and pumps to control system operation. u2022 Studies system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine configuration and purpose of system components such as compressors, motors, pumps, fans, switches, controls, ducts, or pipes. Inspects system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications and to detect malfunctions in system component parts. u2022 Opens valves on equipment such as compressors, pumps, and condensers to prepare systems for operation and starts equipment and auxiliary machinery. u2022 Starts systems, observes operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as actuators, valves, controls, and pumps to control system operation. u2022 Discusses system malfunctions with users to isolate problems. u2022 Records temperature, pressure, and other readings on log sheets at specified intervals. Operates refrigerant recovery equipment, vacuum pumps, charging equipment and service gauges. u2022 Screws, bolts, rivets, welds, and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes. u2022 Installs wiring to connect components to electric power sources. Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components. u2022 Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems. u2022 Cuts, bends and crimps sheet metal, installs air ducts and associated sheet metal components. u2022 Inspects and measures building to determine airflow requirements. u2022 Installation of complete heat and air conditioning systems. u2022 Lubricate fans, motors, and control units. u2022 Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical heat and refrigeration systems. u2022 Performs all preventative maintenance tasking on all HVAC equipment including boilers and cooling towers in accordance with detailed tasks in CMMS library. u2022 Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities. u2022 Performs other routine duties as required u2022 Monitors the Fire Alarm Panel and responds to the Fire Command Center during fire alarms and drills. u2022 Become familiar with the established Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures and participate in the PM program. u2022 Maintains an effective daily log book of all shift activities. Ensures work requests are submitted for any equipment or system deficiencies. u2022 Files all daily mechanical room rounds sheets for review by the management. u2022 Read, understand, and sign off on weekly Tool Box safety literature. Ensure completion of all regulatory compliance training. u2022 Obtain OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health certification. u2022 Ability to work extended hours or weekend overtime as needed.
