Summary This position is in the Architect of the Capitol, Superintendent Senate Office Buildings, Masonry Branch. The Mason Assistant Supervisor directs the activities of Masons, Decorative-Plasterers, Mason Leaders and Masonry Workers in the Senate Office Buildings. Responsibilities Tour of Duty for this position is: Monday u2013 Friday 4:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) available upon supervisors' approval. Work schedule may require some occasionally mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends. Supervisory Responsibilities: Assists the Mason Supervisor in project planning, acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment, contractor oversight, inspection, and troubleshooting. Maintains workload data and prepares management requested reports. Approves or disapproves leave requests. Assign duties to and evaluate their performance. Assists with the organizational unit's budget and workload. Resolves complaints and grievances as delegated by higher level supervisors. Provides leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements. Develops and/or approves cost estimates, drawings, and blueprints for construction projects and renovations. Utilizes TMA, AOC's specialized maintenance management software, to ensure that preventive maintenance schedules are followed and that work orders are assigned in a timely manner. Ensures the availability of materials, equipment, tools and personnel adequate to complete projects in a timely, efficient and effective manner. Masonry Plans and Projects: Performs complex and intricate masonry work in the interior spaces of the AOC historical buildings. Repairs, maintains, and erects stone, brick, concrete, and concrete block. Sets stone and other types of building materials on walls and partitions. Polishes, cuts, cleans, and matches a variety of bluestone, granite, limestone, marble, and sandstone. Lays block and brick. Sets, lays, polishes, and repairs tile and terrazzo. Cuts openings in walls and finishes exposed surfaces. Repairs stone joints by cutting, raking, cleaning, and repointing with mortar and caulking compound. Responsible for the decorative upkeep and repair of the interior and exterior limestone, sandstone, granite, brick, block, glass tile and ceramic tile of the historic buildings. Maintains, fixes, and replaces tile and terrazzo. Lays brick and concrete blocks, incise or demolishes walls and other surfaces to create openings for new doors, passageways or fire exits. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen. You must be able to pass a drug test.
