Job Title: Entry Level SUE TechnicianJob Description We are seeking two dedicated Entry Level SUE Technicians to join our team. This role involves training under experienced management and is suitable for individuals with a background in subsurface utility engineering or surveying. Responsibilities + Locate, review, and research job locations to identify landmarks, physical objects, and significant land changes affecting surveys. + Supervise survey crew work, evaluate priorities, and coordinate work efforts. + Ensure the accuracy of angles, distances, and other collected data conform to regulations and standards. + Coordinate survey findings with engineering personnel, clients, and project stakeholders. + Research previous survey evidence, maps, deeds, and records to gather necessary data. + Determine methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control. + Maintain accurate notes, records, and sketches of work performed. + Complete daily logs, expense reports, and safety forms, ensuring crew members follow safety procedures. + Consult with computer operators and review final production of survey work. + Familiarity with surveying terms, tools, and equipment, including Total Station/Data Collector, Level, and GPS methods, is required. Essential Skills + High School diploma or GED. + At least 2 years of survey experience. + Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations and GPS. + Willingness to travel and work on a vacuum excavation truck for utility locating. + Experience working outside in various conditions. + Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record. + Ability to pass a drug test. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in subsurface utility engineering (utility designating & locating) is preferred. + Good technical skills and behavioral traits such as being process-oriented, steady, helpful, honest, trustworthy, adaptable, analytical, and a problem solver. + Ability to work alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail-oriented, precise, and having a strong aversion to mistakes and a preference for structured work. Work Environment The position is based out of Raleigh, NC. Most time will be spent in the field, with potential travel within the region (NC, SC, VA). Compensation is provided for travel outside of daily commutes, with overnight stays required when necessary. The primary workload is within a daily commute, but travel expectations should be set at 60%. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
