Location: On-siteat theUniversityofMaryland School of Pharmacy,Baltimore,Maryland The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is conducting an open search for a School Assistant Professor, non-tenure track, in the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research.Thispositionrequiresteaching,practice,servicetotheschool,campus,andtheprofession, and scholarly activity as a internal medicine, critical care, and clinical pharmacy specialist. The position is a full-time, 12-month appointment based in Baltimore, Maryland. In addition to teaching, service, and scholarly activity, the faculty member will provide leadership in their area of specialty and will develop a step-down medical ICU clinicalpractice. TheUniversityofMarylandprofessional campushasschoolsofPharmacy,Medicine,Nursing,Social Work, Law, and Dentistry with an excellent established track record of successful collaboration for interprofessional practice and research collaborations. _SUPERVISORY CONTROLS_ This position is responsible to the Chair of the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health OutcomesResearch.Clinicalreportingresponsibilityistothemedical/pharmacydirectorordesignee at the practice site. Providepathophysiologyandpharmacotherapeuticsinstructionindidacticcoursesinourentry- level PharmD program. Developandteachinadvancedpharmacypracticeexperiencesforpharmacystudentsand residents at the clinical site. Provideclinicaleducationto students(pharmacy,medicine,andnursing),residents(pharmacy and medicine), pharmacists, nurses, physicians, patients, and patient caregivers. Assistwith administration of thePGY2residencyprograms. PRACTICE Developastep-downmedicalICUpracticeatUMMC Theclinicalfacultymemberwillprovideclinicalpharmacy services to patients admitted toastep-down critical careunit.Responsibilitiesinclude: o Participatein direct patient careas a memberofaninterprofessionalteam. o Develop patient careplansinconcertwiththeinterprofessionalteam. o Implement new therapiesor alternative approachesbased on patientneeds. o Ensureandenforcecompliancewith established institutionalprotocols. o Activelyparticipateindepartmentalstaffdevelopmentprogramsaswellasstudentand resident educational programs. SCHOLARSHIP Engage in scholarly activity in areas of interest. Scholarship is broadly interpreted and may includethedevelopmentofinnovativepharmacypractices,evaluationoftherapeuticoutcomes, and implementation and assessment of novel instructional methods. Scholarlyactivityisrequired;publicationandpresentationofworkisexpected. Scholarlyactivitymaybepursuedeitherindependentlyorincollaborationwithotherschools, departments, or campus faculty. SERVICETOTHEUNIVERSITY,SCHOOL, ANDPUBLIC Participateinappropriatefacultyactivities(e.g.,facultyassembly,departmentmeetings, faculty committees), professional organizations, and other endeavors is also expected. _MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS_ AnearnedDoctorofPharmacy(Pharm.D.)degreefromanACPEaccreditedschoolof pharmacy plus 2-years of post-graduate training (residency, fellowship, or equivalent experience), and teaching experience are required. Residency training in internal medicine, pharmacotherapy, or critical care is preferred. Eligibility forMarylandlicensure isrequired. Excellent communication and patient skills areessential. Board certification and evidenceof scholarship arehighlydesirable. _REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES_ Professional conduct in all dealings with students, faculty, or administration. Communications - Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform via written, oral, and visual media. Education - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design principles, evidence-based teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and knowledge of measurement and assessment. Initiative - Willing and able to take on responsibilities and challenges. Leadership - Willing and able to lead; take charge and offer opinions and direction. Learning Strategies - Selecting and using instructional methods and procedures appropriate in the discipline family when learning or teaching new things. Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty. Monitoring - Monitoring/assessing curricula to make improvements or take corrective action.
