Position description The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Musicu2019s Department of Ethnomusicology invites applications for a part-time lecturer position in Music of Mexico: Son Jarocho ensemble for the Spring quarter of the 2025u201326 academic year. Salary will be commensurate with applicantu2019s qualifications and experience. Candidates must have advanced expertise in the performing music of Son Jarocho from Veracruz, Mexico. The candidate will be expected to direct performance ensembles adapting key concepts within the framework of native pedagogy. A principal goal is that of training students to develop performance technique, and the position requires expertise in developing a curriculum for the class. Teaching experience and extensive performance experience in the related field are preferred. Candidates should submit: 1) a cover letter stating interest in the position, 2) a comprehensive curriculum vitae and 3) a statement of teaching philosophy.
