The JCC of Central New Jersey is a non-profit agency whose mission is to educate, enrich and empower our community - from generation to generation. The JCC offers educational, recreational, fitness & wellness, cultural and communal programs and activities to people of all abilities and all stages of life.Summary of Position:The Senior Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the JCC. This role ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of the organization's financial records and supports strong internal controls and audit readiness. The Senior Accounting Manager partners closely with the Senior Director of Finance, serving as the operational backbone of the Finance Department while enabling the Director to focus on strategy, analysis, and leadership.This is a 40 hour per week, overtime exempt position reporting to the Senior Director of Finance. Attendance at occasional evening meetings is required.Key Responsibilities:Accounting Operations & Month-End CloseOwn and manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met with accuracy and consistencyMaintain the General Ledger, including journal entries, account analysis, and documentationOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting processesReview balance sheet reconciliations on a regular schedule and assist to resolve discrepancies promptlyCash Management & ControlsMonitor daily cash activity and support cash flow planningEnsure timely processing of payments, deposits, and receiptsMaintain strong transaction-level internal controls and documentation standardsSupport segregation of duties and risk mitigation across financial processesGrant Accounting & Audit SupportAssist with tracking of grant revenues and expenditures in accordance with funder requirementsPrepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and financial reviewsServe as a key point of contact during audits under the direction of the Senior Director of FinanceMaintain organized financial records and audit-ready filesSystems, Reconciliations & Process ImprovementPerform monthly reconciliations between CRMs (operational systems) and the General LedgerServe as administrator for credit card and expense platforms, maintaining approval workflows and system integrityIdentify inefficiencies in accounting workflows and recommend process improvementsSupport system integrations and data accuracy across platformsCollaboration & SupportWork collaboratively with program, development, and administrative department leaders to ensure accurate GL coding, expense tracking, and revenue recognitionServe as a financial resource to department heads by helping them understand budgets, monthly P&L reports, and variancesSupport departments in resolving discrepancies related to expenses, revenue, and program-level financial resultsProvide timely, accurate financial information to support internal reporting, decision-making, and analysisPartner with the Senior Director of Finance on cross-departmental financial initiatives, ad hoc analyses, and special projectsKey Benefits Offered:Medical, Dental, VisionBasic and Supplemental Life InsuranceMedical and Dependent Care FSAs; HSAMass transit and commuter parking FSAs401(k) retirement plan with employer matchPaid time offComplimentary membership with use of facilities (fitness, aquatics, programs)Program discounts for the entire family Minimum Qualifications: Required Qualifications & Skills:Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting5-7 years of progressive accounting experience; nonprofit experience preferredStrong working knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting practicesAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reconciliations, pivot tables, and financial analysisDemonstrated experience with accounting software platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Financial Edge, or similar)Experience working with billing, payments, and revenue-tracking systems, including integrated registration, POS, or CRM platformsComfort navigating and reconciling data across multiple systems and integrationsHigh attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, multi-department environmentPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computerFrequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and operating office equipmentAbility to view a computer screen for prolonged periodsOccasional standing, walking, bending and reachingAbility to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writingAbility to lift and move light materials, typically up to 15 poundsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Salary: $80000 Agency Information: The JCC of Central NJ's mission is to educate, enrich and empower our community - from generation to generation.
