Syracuse University College of Law invites applications for a Visiting Teaching Professor position teaching Legal Communication and Research (u201cLCRu201d), Civil Procedure, Contracts, Property, and/or other doctrinal courses. Syracuse University College of Law seeks to hire a temporary Visiting Teaching Professor for the 2026-27 academic year. This is a non-tenure-eligible, non-renewable contract faculty position. Candidates are expected to teach in the residential and online law school programs. Teaching duties may include sections of Legal Communication and Writing in the core first year writing program, as well as doctrinal courses including Civil Procedure, Contracts, Property, and/or other doctrinal courses. Candidates should have an excellent academic record and should hold a JD degree from an accredited law school. Preferred post-JD experience and credentials include advanced degrees, judicial clerkships, relevant legal practice (including proficiency with the use of AI tools in legal practice), and prior teaching experience. A demonstrated commitment to excellent classroom teaching is required. Candidates must have the skills and abilities to effectively interact with many different groups of students, colleagues, and community members. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026. This is an academic-year position with fourteen (14) to eighteen (18) credits of teaching across fall and spring semesters. The salary range for a Visiting Teaching Professor, depending on experience, is $80,000 to $115,000 with benefits.
