Equipment Operator Job ID #: 32040 Location: SC-CHARLESTON Functional Area: Misc./Trades Position Type: Full Time Experience Required: 1 - 3 Years Relocation Provided: No Education Required: GED RC/Department: 6414 -SEREG SHIPYARD RIVER TERMINAL :BULKB Position Description Responsible for the safe, efficient and quality-conscious unloading and loading of bulk and packaged commodities to or from storage piles, railcars, and trucks. Assure the work being performed consistently meets or exceeds the expectations of the supervisor, as well as published policies and procedures of Kinder Morgan. Operates heavy equipment as directed to load trucks, trains, in a safe and efficient manner. u2022 Operate front end loader, bobcat, man-lift, and track hoe. u2022 Maintain dozer, skid steer, forklift, track hoe, back hoe, and wheel loader equipment by performing preventive maintenance, i.e.: lubricating, cleaning, adding gear lubricants, changing filters and documenting all activity performed on said piece of equipment. u2022 Experiencing operating a 924/950/972/980/D8 or D9 wheel loader preferred. u2022 Experience operating a wheel back hoe, fork lift, skid steer, and man lift. u2022 Able to work around conveyors and assist as needed during vessel off loading or loading operations. Housekeeping and general maintenance as required. Perform any other type of terminal function as trained and as instructed by the supervisor. Position Requirements Position Requirements: u2022 High school/GED; or up to one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience u2022 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. u2022 Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. u2022 Train to Operator D-9 Dozer and other heavy Equipment, i.e.: Front-end loader, Bobcat, Man-lift, and Track-hoe u2022 In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required. u2022 Able to carry out supervisors instructions. u2022 Self-motivated. u2022 Safety in performance of duties common to the position. u2022 Ability to work with others. u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid driver vehicle license u2022 Must pass and complete any required Kinder Morgan specific safety training as may be required by Customers) and as required at all Kinder Morgan work locations. u2022 Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC). u2022 Must be willing and able to work as part of a team. u2022 Treat people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values. u2022 Prioritize and plans work activities using time efficiently, plans for additional resources, organizes schedules of other people and their tasks, develops realistic action plans. u2022 Required to stand, walk and climb for extended periods of time. u2022 Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio u2022 While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
