Seasonal.Reports To: District Foreperson / District SupervisorSalary Range: $15.50 $17.00 per hourSupervises: 0Requirements: City of Buffalo residencyPosition Summary:The Park Maintenance Worker Seasonal is responsible for general landscape, park, and horticultural maintenance of the park(s) within their assigned district and/or other districts as needed. This position is part of the operations department and reports directly to the district foreperson.This is a full-time seasonal position; working 37.5 hours per week with non-exempt status according to the Fair Labor Standards Act. Overtime hours may be required at certain times, with supervisors approval.Benefits:This position is a Class 3A according to the Conservancys employee handbook and as such benefits include the following:Class 3A The Conservancy offers medical plans with a $400 employer provided allocation toward monthly premiums. A 403(b)-retirement plan and paid sick time.Additional Benefits include: a golf season pass for employees, as well as ongoing in-house training on various topics, flexible schedule, based on the needs of the Conservancy.Duties and Responsibilities:1.Debris and trash removal daily;2.Mowing and weed whacking;3.Raking, shoveling, and sweeping;4.Planting, weeding, and mulching;5.Performs daily maintenance of tools and equipment utilized;6.Special event set-up and clean-up.Additional Expectations:Aligns with the Conservancys commitment to creating an inclusive, equitable, and accessible working environment for all staff and park system for all park users;Perform other duties as assigned by management.Qualifications and Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):1.City of Buffalo residency within six-(6) months of hire date;2.Must be highly motivated and able to work in a fast- paced environment;3.Holding a Class B CDL is a plus;4.Ability to work closely with other staff members and respectfully interact with the public;5.Experience with hand- held power tools is preferred;6.Training and/or licensing in operation of larger equipment and vehicles is a plus;7.Must be available to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;8.Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures;9.Willingness to learn new skills;10.Professionalism in communication, demeanor and respectful relationship building at the highest level in representing the Conservancy and fostering collaborative partnerships.Physical Demands and Working Conditions:1.Primarily outdoor hands-on work, potentially under extreme weather conditions;2.Must be adaptable to changing work environment, including working in different park locations;3.Job duties may require an employee to bend, reach, stoop, sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, as well as lift and/or move heavy objects which at times could be up to 50 lbs.;4.May require use of hand tools; as well as standard and heavy equipment;5.Evenings, weekend, and holiday work may be required;6.Flexible hours depending on workload and ever-changing priorities;7.Must be able to adapt to ever-changing resources and limited budgets.
