In this role, youu2019ll play a key part in keeping County facilities safe, attractive, and functional through expert painting and finishing work. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, enjoys hands-on work, and wants a stable career in public service that makes a real difference. Duties and Responsibilities What You Will Do + Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, patching holes, and masking areas. + Paint a variety of surfaces, including walls, doors, floors, pipes, and parking lot markings. + Remove graffiti using cleaning solutions and pressure washing. + Stain and finish wood surfaces like doors and trim; occasionally refinish furniture. + Provide cost estimates and coordinate with vendors. + Use tools and equipment such as pressure washers, spray guns, brushes, rollers, ladders, scaffolding, and lifts. + Handle hazardous materials safely and follow all safety practices. + Perform drywall repairs, apply texture finishes, install wallpaper, and cove base. + Assist with general maintenance tasks as needed. + Work in different weather conditions and perform physical tasks like lifting, climbing, kneeling, and crawling. Education, Experience, Licensing What Weu2019re Looking For + High School Diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. + Two (2) years of painting or related trade experience. + Ability to pass a respirator physical and become respirator certified within one year of hire. + Valid driveru2019s license with an acceptable driving record. + Will be required to undergo a fingerprint-based NCIC background check, and must be able to obtain security clearances from the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the State's Attorney's Office in addition to the standard Consumer Report-based background check that is required for conditional offers of employment. Supplemental Information Work Schedule: Tuesdayu2013Friday, 7:00 AM u2013 5:30 PM. Must be available for on-call shifts, overtime, and flexible hours as needed. Why Join Us?
