The Equity and Inclusion (E&I) Department advances antiracism,diversity, equity, and inclusion across the City through strategy,organizational culture, policy development, and service delivery. Webuild connections by fostering a workplace and community culture wherethe rights, dignity, and contributions of every employee, resident, andvisitor are valued and protected. The E&I Department has multipledivisions, including the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the AmericanFreedmen Commission, the Commission on Immigration Rights andCitizenship, the Commission for Persons with Disabilities, theCommission on the Status of Women, the Domestic and Gender-BasedViolence Prevention Initiative, the Human Rights Commission, the LGBTQ+Commission, the Peace Commission, and the Police Review and AdvisoryBoard. Together, we collaborate with all City departments, communitypartners and businesses, other government agencies, and residents tooperationalize diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and opportunity.ABOUT THE ROLE: The Equity and Inclusion Trainer is an engagingfacilitator and thoughtful instructional designer who helps deliverhigh-quality learning experiences across a municipal governmentorganization. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Office ofEquity and Inclusion, the Equity and Inclusion Trainer supports thedevelopment, coordination, and delivery of training and learninginitiatives that strengthen inclusive practices, build employee skills,and deepen organizational understanding of equity. This role suits atrainer who is skilled at creating welcoming learning spaces,translating equity concepts into practical skills, and adapting contentfor audiences with different levels of exposure to equity work. Thetrainer collaborates closely with colleagues, city departments, andcommunity partners to ensure training is responsive, accessible, andimpactful. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Training Delivery andFacilitation Facilitate equity and inclusion trainings, workshops, anddiscussions for employees at all organizational levels and occasionallyfor department Commissions and Boards. Use accessible, interactive,adult-learning methods to engage participants and promote skilldevelopment. Adapt training content to fit a variety of departmentalcontexts and employee roles. Instructional Design and Content SupportAssist in designing and updating training materials, curricula, andresource guides. Help identify training needs through surveys, feedback,and consultation with departments. Incorporate best practices, research,and relevant case examples into training materials. Program Coordinationand Logistics Coordinate scheduling, registration, communication, andfollow-up for training sessions. Track attendance, feedback, andtraining outcomes for reporting and evaluation. Maintain trainingdocumentation, digital resources, and learning platforms. Collaborationand Partnership Work with HR, department leaders, employee groups, andcommunity partners to support equitable learning opportunities.Participate in cross-departmental projects that integrate equity-focusedlearning into city operations. Provide guidance and support fordepartmental equity efforts, as appropriate. Stay current on trends,tools, and approaches in equity, inclusion, cultural humility, and adultlearning. Contribute to broader initiatives within the Equity andInclusion Department, as needed. Occasional evening and weekend workhours are required to support the Commissions and Boards' learningprogramming.
