Job Summary At PreveaHealth, The Physician Extender is a healthcare professional who assistsin the delivery of high-quality patient care by performing variousclinical tasks within their scope of practice. Working closely withphysicians, the Physician Extender will provide essential support inassessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with musculoskeletal,cardiovascular, and other conditions. The role includes patientexamination, diagnostic testing, assisting in procedures, patienteducation, and facilitating communication across departments. The idealcandidate will possess strong clinical reasoning skills, attention todetail, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and patientsafety. What you will do Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough patienthistories, perform physical exams (e.g., posture, gait, joint motion,muscle function, and neurologic evaluations), and interpret findings toassist in diagnosis. Clinical Support: Assist physicians with diagnosticand therapeutic procedures, including musculoskeletal ultrasound,joint/bursa injections, casting, and aspiration. Patient Education:Provide pre- and post-operative education, therapeutic exercises, andguidance on the use of durable medical equipment. Referrals andCommunication: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcareproviders for referrals, tests, procedures, and follow-up care. MedicalDocumentation: Update and maintain accurate patient records by filingdictations, test results, and referral forms in a timely manner.Scheduling & Coordination: Assist with scheduling surgeries, tests, andprocedures, as well as facilitate pre-certification for procedures andinsurance claims. Education Qualifications Master's Degree in AthleticTraining Required Skills and Abilities Knowledge of principles andskills needed to provide patient care. Knowledge of medical equipmentand instruments to provide patient care. Knowledge of common safetyhazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
