Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.As a Test Engineer working with a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will support the Core Component Fuel Cell Test team through development, acceptance, and qualification testing of flight hardware for the Lunar Vehicles.This is a hands-on position where you will apply broad multi-disciplinary engineering (fluids, thermal, mechanical, and electrical/electronic) knowledge, skills, and methods to positively impact safe human spaceflight. You will be required to maintain a safety-first mindset while setting up and executing hazardous tests, including cryogenic, high voltage, hazardous commodities, and high-pressure systems. You will be responsible for independently fabricating and troubleshooting test rigs/systems as well as test harnesses. You will support the team's equipment management and addition, you will support hardware production by evaluating test procedures and processes for efficiency and implementing improvements. We are looking for someone who can work in a team environment and apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.Minimum Qualifications:2+ years’ experience in aerospace or related fieldsDemonstrated mechanical skills such as welding, milling, lathe, drilling, torquing, soldering, crimping, and tube flaring and bendingKnowledge / experience with high pressure and/or hazardous commodity systems (gaseous)Ability to fabricate high pressure plumbing systemsKnowledge and experience with test operations procedures including hydraulic load control, hydro/pneumatic pressure control, and safe handling of flight partsAbility to install and operate instrumentation including strain gages, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, and analog circuitryAbility to read and understand mechanical drawings, blueprints, piping, and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and wiring schematicsExcellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with a high attention to detailExcellent judgment with demonstrated ability to recognize, report, and correct issuesStrong development background and experience working with limited instructionAbility to document and maintain accurate records with strict procedural compliancePreferred Qualifications:3+ years of applicable industry experience (launch vehicles, satellites, aircraft, motorsports, oil & gas)A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integrationDemonstrated technical expertise in design, operation, testing, or production of pressurized (up to 6000 psi), hydraulic, and/or mechanical systemsStrong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, actuators, servo-valves, and fittingsExperience performing electrical work and repairs per NASA-STD-8739.4, AC-43.13-1B or similarExperience with Environmental Testing per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540 or MIL-STD-810Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, OSHA, and local building standardsFamiliarity with working precision clean hardware and systems in a cleanroom environmentExperience installing strain gages with a variety of adhesive types, including room-temperature and elevated-temperature cure.Experience with 3D CAD tools (CREO/PRO-E preferred) and ability to read and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standardExperience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardwareCompensation Range for:WA applicants is $29.91 - $41.87Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon’t meet all desired requirements?
