Minimum age of 16Physical/Mental Requirements:1. Must be able to frequently perform the following physicalactivities; swim, bend, stoop, kneel,twist, reach with hands, sit, stand for extended periods of time, walk,lift and carry up to 50pounds, and communicate verbally2. Must be able to perform work both indoors and out and be exposed toprevalent weatherconditions3. Must maintain lifeguard certification level of physical and mentalreadiness4. Must be able to visually see all sections of an assigned zone orarea of responsibility5. Must be able to adequately hear noises and distinguish distresssignals6. Must possess ability to remain alert and maintain concentration forlong periods of time to ensuresafety of participants7. Must possess ability to make independent and sound decisions in arapidly changing environment8. Must be able to show initiative in the absence of supervision9. Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people ina friendly and consistentmanner10. Must be able to handle questions/concerns and resolve conflicts ina courteous and professionalmanner11. Must maintain a neat and professional appearanceJob Requirements:1. Complete BLS/AED, First Aid, O2, Lifeguard Certification inaccordance with Conditions ofEmployment4. Understand and abide-by all policies and procedures as set forth bythe association5. Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branchJOB RESPONSIBILITIES1. Responsible for maintaining all lifeguard skills as required inlifeguard certification.2. Responsible for actively scanning and maintaining appropriatepositioning in pool area at alltimes.3. Responsible for immediately and properly responding to medicalemergencies when they arise.4. Responsible for effective supervision of participants to maintainsafety standards.5. Following and enforcing all YMCA policies, rules, regulations andprocedures, includingemergency and safety procedures.6. Responsible for being knowledgeable and prepared to implementemergency proceduresimmediately.8. Reporting all incidents/accidents on the appropriate form andproviding to supervisor within 24hours of event.9. Responsible for never leaving the pool unattended.10. Following all opening, closing and shift procedures, includinglocking all doors leading to the poolarea after swimming hours. Ensuring all equipment is off the pool deckand appropriately stored.11. Reporting any facility or equipment irregularities to supervisor inwriting.12. Responsible for cleanliness of deck. Performing cleaning duties asassigned.13. Maintaining records as required (i.e. chemical readings, dailyattendance logs).14. Attending all required training sessions and scheduled meetings.15. Responsible for scheduled hours; securing substitutes whennecessary. Notifying supervisor in inadvance, and in writing.16. Maintaining ef fective, positive relationships with the members,participants and staff.17. Child Abuse Prevention - Responsible for adhering to boundarypolicies, attending requiredtraining, reporting concerns, following mandated reporting policy,fulfilling job-specificresponsibilities such as maintaining and securing unused areas, andensuring proper sign-in/outprocedures.18. Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising.19.
