Join us for the chance to achieve your ambitions and build your legacy.The Vice President of Operations will have his/her own project assignment as the senior-most construction professional on the project, and will also be a resource for the President, General Manager, Chief Operating Officer, and Operational staff in areas of work acquisition, contract negotiation and compliance, subcontractor management, financial management, schedule and budget management and compliance with Company Standard Operating procedures.Work with Office Leadership to set the business direction and strategy for the officeOversee project delivery for the officeDevelop sector expertise, serving as the regional market expertEnsure corporate vision and strategies are communicated to Project Executives and the project teamsEnsure compliance with company’s policies and proceduresWork Acquisition and Client ManagementWorking at the direction of the Presidentand COO, identify and establish new client relationships; cultivate relationships with existing clients through exceptional project deliveryIdentify and develop new business opportunities consistent with Company objectivesDirect the strategy and content of group proposals and/or presentationsParticipate in project pursuitsRecommend general conditions and fees to the Office LeadershipEnsure client satisfaction at all levels by leveraging formal (Suffolk CONNECT) and informal (client interaction, community events, etc.) channelsActively participate in industry events and associationsFinancial ManagementEstablish financial performance goals for each project and implement strategies to achieve goalsReview and analyze weekly financial reports on projects; provide guidance and direction to teamsComplete monthly financial forecasts with project teams. Insure progress against plan is maintainedOversee monthly requisitioningMonitor project cash flow and achieve established goalDevelopment of PeopleRecruit and hire key operational staffParticipate on interview team for non-operational, and strategic hiresEvaluate team performance and provide direction and constructive feedbackBuild future leaders through mentoringSupport training and curriculum development and planningPreconstructionOversee preconstruction efforts on assigned projects in support of the President, estimator or preconstruction services leaderWork in partnership with preconstruction cost estimator to develop accurate project GMP’sWrite or approve detailed scope of work descriptions for subcontractorsConstruction OperationsEnsure all construction activities are consistent with Suffolk’s Standard Operating ProceduresConduct weekly meetings with Project Executives and entire team to review job performance in its entiretyDevelop project execution plans, including baseline schedules for projects utilizing the resources of scheduling and Lean planning in the CompanyReview schedule updates and participate in monthly update meetingReview monthly KPIs, evaluate trends and drive improvementEnsure performance corrections are implemented to achieve client satisfactionEnsure Quality Assurance/Quality Control plan is developed and followed in partnership with the National Director of Quality AssuranceEnsure project specific safety plans and safety Standard Operating Proceduresare in place and followedBachelor’s Degree required15-20 years of commercial construction operations experience in the construction industry ideally within assigned regionDemonstrated leadership skills, highly positive outlook, flexible, team building experienceEnergetic, enthusiastic self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills and an eye for detailOutstanding team player with excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to work in a fast paced environmentCandidate must possess Suffolk’s Core Values: Passion, Integrity, Hard Work, Professionalism, and CaringWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. This represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Suffolk’s total compensation package. Actual salaries may be based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, education and other qualifications. Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of its overall compensation strategy. Salary ranges may differ by geography and are reviewed regularly to reflect market trends.
