Job Title: Site Safety Manager / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)Job Description We are seeking an experienced Site Safety Manager / Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support federal construction projects. This role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing site-specific safety programs in full compliance with USACE EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Site Safety Manager serves as the primary safety authority on site and collaborates with project teams, subcontractors, and government representatives to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Responsibilities + Develop and implement site-specific safety programs. + Ensure compliance with USACE EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and all relevant regulations. + Act as the primary safety authority on site. + Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and government representatives. + Enforce safety standards and conduct safety training sessions. Essential Skills + Minimum 5 years of experience as a Site Safety Manager or SSHO on federal construction projects. + Working knowledge of USACE EM 385-1-1. + OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification. + Completed EM 385-1-1 40-Hour SSHO Course. Additional Skills & Qualifications + First Aid/CPR/AED certification. + Competent Person training (excavation, fall protection, confined space, etc.). + CHST, CSP, or other safety certifications. + Experience working with USACE, NAVFAC, VA, or other federal agencies. Work Environment This position requires on-site presence at federal construction projects. The work environment emphasizes compliance with safety regulations and standards, collaborating with a team of professionals to maintain a secure and compliant worksite. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
