Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities The Chief, Psychiatry Behavioral Health Service is aligned under the Associate Chief of Staff, Behavioral Health and is a supervisory position. This supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of the Supervisory Psychiatrist, Inpatient Psychiatry Section, Supervisory Psychiatrist, Interventional Psychiatry Section, Psychiatry Residency Director; Program Manager, Mental Health Residential and Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MH RRTP), and Float Prescriber staff. The Psychiatry Section Program Manager is committed to providing care in accordance with the VA goals of high quality, patient-centered healthcare that embraces the recovery model. This supervisor functions in a collaborative fashion with other departments, programs, and medical staff members to provide appropriate inpatient, outpatient, residential, and consultative psychiatry services. Provides direct patient care in outpatient mental health. Functioning as part of a psychiatric care team working with other physicians, physician extenders, nurses and/or other support staff. Providing high quality and efficient care and be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team setting. Maintains competency in all aspects of Psychiatric: The Chief of Psychiatry is responsible for supervising Supervisory Psychiatrist, Inpatient Psychiatry Section, who supervises the inpatient psychiatrists, psychologist, social workers, APRNs; Supervisory Psychiatrist, Interventional Psychiatry Section, who supervises the Interventional section psychiatrist(s) and physician assistant(s) (PA); Psychiatry Residency Director; Program Manager, who supervises Resident Doctors, and the MH Residential and Rehabilitation Treatment Program Manager who supervises the MH-RRTP psychiatrist(s), PA(s), APRN prescribers, psychologist(s), senior social worker(s), and program support assistants (PSAs) The Psychiatry Section Program Manager will direct and participate in quality improvement measures, systems redesign projects, and ensures compliance with policies, directives and service leadership goals. Develops strategies that achieve organizational goals, taking into account the organization's resources. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
