Non-Tenure: Visiting Instructional Assistant Professor - Medical Education Engineering Medicine Location Houston, TX Open Date 2/23/2026 Position ID 178375 Description The School of Engineering Medicine at Texas A&M University invites applications for a part-time, visiting faculty position. Applicants will be considered for the non-tenure track faculty title of Visiting Instructional Assistant Professor. The selected candidate will teach clinical medicine in the pre-clerkship curriculum and contribute to the educational mission of EnMed. The appointment effort may be adjusted to align with the candidateu2019s availability and program needs. The anticipated start date is Summer to Fall 2026. EnMed is the School of Engineering Medicineu2019s innovative medical education program, developed in a partnership with the Texas A&M College of Medicine, Texas A&M College of Engineering, and Houston Methodist Hospital, to educate u201cphysicianeers,u201d a new kind of physician who will create transformational technology to solve health careu2019s greatest challenges. The EnMed medical education program offers a blended engineering and medicine curriculum with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. EnMed is the nationu2019s only program that allows graduates to receive both the Master of Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degrees in four years. EnMed is located in Houstonu2019s Texas Medical Center (TMC). Duties/Responsibilities + Teach selected sessions within the integrated organu2011block courses in the pre-clerkship curriculum, with emphasis on differential diagnosis and the application of foundational science concepts + Teach targeted history and physical examination sessions within the pre-clerkship clinical skills courses, focusing on high-yield clinical skills instruction + Contribute to the development and delivery of specific pre-clerkship learning materials, including clinical cases and clinically focused activities, using active learning instruction + Participate in some curricular planning meetings and faculty development activities that support assigned teaching responsibilities Qualifications Required: + Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) + Demonstrated expertise in one or more foundational USMLE pre-clerkship content areas - such as renal/urinary, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, endocrine systems, or reproductive + Clinical experience and a strong foundation in diagnostic reasoning and the application of differential diagnosis Preferred: + Experience teaching in pre-clerkship medical education Application Instructions Interested applicants must apply through the Texas A&M University faculty job board hosted by Interfolio at /181937 and submit the following materials electronically through Interfolio: + Curriculum Vitae, + Cover Letter, + Personal statement to include philosophy and plans for research, teaching, and service, as applicable, + Contact information for at least three (3) references to solicit letters of recommendation For any questions regarding this position, please contact Dr. Leslie Day at .
