Job Description Join the YMCA of the North as a strategic, mission-driven executive leader guiding our Adventure portfolio. Weu2019re seeking a leader who excels in multi-site leadership, operational performance, and delivering exceptional, inclusive experiences. Strong leadership in budget, operations, and customer/quality experience. The salary for this position starts at $90,135. We take into consideration an individualu2019s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status. 1. Job Summary The Associate Vice President of Adventure provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for YMCA of the Northu2019s Adventure portfolio, including overnight camps, day camps, and nature-based programs. Ensure offerings are equitable, accessible, financially sustainable, and aligned with the YMCAu2019s mission and strategic priorities. Lead the development and continuous improvement of high-quality adventure experiences that promote wellbeing, confidence, belonging, and connection to nature. Build strong partnerships across the Y and community, responding to evolving needs and advancing innovation in program design and delivery. Accountable for program quality, financial performance, risk management, talent development, and community impact. Support senior leaders, engages volunteers and boards, and contributes to enterprise-wide planning alongside Operations, Finance, Marketing, Risk, and Property teams. 2. Essential Functions Strategy, Program & Experience Leadership + Develop and lead a cohesive adventure and nature-based program strategy that connects experiences across the portfolio and helps participants understand entry points, progression, and long-term engagement. + Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and inclusive programs that respond to community needs and support wellbeing outcomes across all life stages. + Lead program innovation and evolution, including new concepts, delivery models, and products that advance mission impact and financial sustainability. Operational & Financial Leadership + Provide executive oversight for the operational and financial performance of the Adventure portfolio, including budget development, forecasting, and accountability for revenue, expenses, and contribution targets. + Partner with Finance and Operations to ensure strong fiscal controls, risk management, and compliance with YMCA policies, accreditation, and regulatory requirements. + Collaborate on capital planning, facility utilization, and long-term asset strategies in partnership with Property, Operations, and Camp leadership. People, Culture & Leadership Development + Recruit, lead, develop, and evaluate a strong, diverse, mission-driven leadership team; foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. + Support succession planning and leadership development across Adventure programs in partnership with People & Culture and Learning & Development. + Model YMCA values and inclusive leadership practices in all internal and external interactions. Philanthropy, Partnerships & Community Engagement + Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, alumni, sponsors, and community partners to advance mission impact and secure philanthropic and sponsorship support. + Partner with Mission Advancement to support fundraising strategies, major gifts, capital gifts, and volunteer engagement aligned with portfolio priorities. Enterprise & Cross-Functional Leadership + Collaborate with Branch Operations, Membership, Childcare, Healthy Living, Risk, Marketing, and Mission Advancement to integrate adventure experiences into broader association strategies. + Serve as a member of the Associationu2019s senior operations leadership, contributing to enterprise-wide planning, decision-making, and strategic alignment. + Represent the YMCA of the North positively in the community, regionally, and nationally as a leader in adventure, camp, and nature-based experiences. + Perform other duties as assigned. 3. Relationships This position reports to the Senior Vice President of Adventure and Wellbeing and works in close collaboration with senior leaders across the Association. The Associate Vice President of Adventure provides direct leadership to assigned program executives and senior leaders and works in partnership with the Vice President of Adventure, ensuring alignment across strategy, operations, and execution. 4. Qualifications Required + Bacheloru2019s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, human services, or related field; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree. + Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience overseeing multiple sites, programs, or portfolios. + Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial oversight, operational leadership, and community engagement. + Proven ability to lead complex teams, manage change, and align strategy with execution. + Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. + Experience working effectively in a matrixed, mission-driven, and diverse organization. Preferred + YMCA or nonprofit leadership experience. + Experience across camp, outdoor, or experiential education programs. + YMCA Organizational Leader certification. + Bi/multilingual. 5. Work Conditions + Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time. + May be required to travel locally for meetings and special events as well as to all seven camp locations as needed.
