Water Safety Director

WATER SAFETY DIRECTOR Position Purpose/Summary Responsible for theaquatic facility operations including, but not limited too, the overallsummer swim program, develop and implement orientation, oversee the IDSystem and staff, supervising the life guarding team and bathattendants, maintaining the swim facilities, planning and conductingin-service trainings, maintaining and filing all required paperwork,helping with weekly payroll, disciplining staff as necessary andpreventing and responding to emergencies. Essential Functions ?Supervising all summer swim program staff ? Supervising the safetyinspections, general care, and cleaning of the facility ? Enforce allaquatic rules, policies, and regulations to ALL patrons ? Make sure allpaperwork is completed fully and correctly ? Conduct regular in-servicetraining sessions and document results ? Make sure the ID system isworking at each facility and train as necessary ? Instruct, assign,supervise, and evaluate lifeguards in the performance of their duties ?Train staff on water sanitation/testing procedures and filter systems ?Document daily activities and staffing patterns- document everything.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Thorough knowledge and application oflife guarding surveillance and rescue techniques The ability toinstruct, assign, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards in the performanceof their duties An understanding of facility characteristics, rules,polices, and procedures Leadership and public relation skills Decisionmaking skills / ability to problem solve Supervisory management skillsAbility to identify hazards and unsafe practices and to make suitablerecommendations for minimizing or eliminating those hazards Applicationof all forms and proper usage Education and Experience One year oflifeguard experience preferred Current certification in the following isneeded: American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training/First Aid AmericanRed Cross or American Heart CPR for the Professional Rescuer AmericanRed Cross Waterfront Life guarding Instructor Certification is a plus
