LIFEGUARD Salary - $18.00 Hourly Job Type - Seasonal Job Number - 04235Department - Parks & Recreation Position Purpose/Summary Responsible forthe safety of the patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies.Essential Functions Recognize emergencies and respond to themeffectively Enforce all aquatic rules, policies, and regulations to ALLpatrons Inspect the facility before opening and closing to report anyunsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor Complete all paperworkduring shifts Participate in regular in-service training sessionsSign-in all bathers using the facility Pick up any and all types oftrash in and around the pool facility Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThorough knowledge of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniquesAn understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies, andprocedures Leadership and public relation skills Decision making skillsEducation and Experience Current certification in the following isneeded: American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training/First Aid AmericanRed Cross or American Heart CPR for the Professional Rescuer AmericanRed Cross Waterfront Life guarding, if working at 5-Mile Pond
