In this role, the Advanced Practice Provider will assist the OBGYN Operating Room Services.The Advanced Practice Provider will beresponsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and will manage a caseload of patients by exercisingautonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments.The APPwillprovide healthcareand patient services that may include educational, research, and clinical nursing specialist support, as well as completeadministrative activities under the direction and supervision of the Director/leadership. The APP has acquired the knowledge, skills, and judgment necessary to assist the physician through organized instruction and supervised practice.Advanced Practice Provider Essential Job FunctionsServing as a member of the inpatient surgical team for the Complex Gynecology service, Benign Gynecology service, and occasionally the Gynecologic Oncology serviceWorking with the inpatient surgical team, including trainees: Residents, fellows, and medical students, witha clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of each team memberFirst assisting in the operating room in a variety of laparoscopic and open gynecologic cases: Hysterectomy, myomectomy, excision of endometriosis; including placement of trocars, docking the daVinci robot, oversight of robotic instrumentation, and laparoscopic assistance during the procedureCommunication with robotic vendors as neededConducting pre and post-operative patient evaluation, including prepping cases and occasional post-operative checksDemonstrating initiative in becoming familiar with individual surgeon preferences and expectations to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient careRemaining flexible and adaptable, able to adjust to last-minute assignment changes in a high-complexity, fast-paced clinical environmentNurse Practitioner Required QualificationsMaster's of Science in NursingCurrent and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registrationMust be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse's Credentialing Center or American Academy of Nurse PractitionersMust have or be able to qualify for Illinois and DEA prescribing numbersOperating Room experience preferredPhysician Assistant Required QualificationsCompletion of an accredited Physician Assistant educational programCertification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure / registrationOperating Room experience preferredPosition DetailsFull-Time, 1.0 FTEMon-Friday 10 hourUnit/Department:CCD ORNon-UnionWe’ve been at the forefront of medicine since 1899.
