Electrical Engineer - Electromechanical systems, Design, Test & LaunchOverviewLeads the design, development, testing, optimization, and launch of electrical control systems for electromechanical systems and components used in suspended access and lifting equipment. This role owns electrical control system, functional safety, product performance, regulatory compliance, manufacturability, market support, and margin improvement across the product lifecycle.Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical control systems design, development, test, and launch of electromechanical systems, assemblies, and subcomponentsTranslate customer, regulatory, and internal requirements into robust, UL-compliant, manufacturable electrical control designsDefine electrical control systems including microcontrollers, motor control, brake control, safety monitoring, and sensor integrationDesign electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and interface documentationSpecify, validate, and integrate motors, drives, brakes, sensors, limit switches, safety relays, and protective devicesPerform electrical control system analysis including power, thermal, fault, and safety-related evaluationsOwn electrical and embedded aspects of new product introduction (NPI) activities including design reviews, prototyping, testing, and launch readinessOptimize existing products using customer feedback, field data, warranty trends, and manufacturing inputDrive design improvements to enhance reliability, safety, usability, and customer experienceIdentify and implement cost-reduction opportunities through architecture optimization, component selection, and design simplification to maximize product marginsCollaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, firmware, and suppliers to improve manufacturability and reduce lifecycle costSupport root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing, assembly, software, and field issuesEnsure compliance with applicable North American electrical, safety, and lifting codes and regulationsPrepare and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, BOMs, specifications, test reports, and manualsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field5+ years of experience in electrical and embedded control system design and testing, preferably with electromechanical systems, lifting, or safety-critical equipmentDemonstrated experience developing UL-certified electrical systems for hoists, lifts, cranes, or similar machineryStrong understanding of electrical control systems, motor control, power electronics, and safety-related control architecturesExperience integrating embedded firmware with electrical hardware and mechanical systemsProficiency with electrical CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, or similar)Solid understanding of North American electrical codes, grounding, insulation, EMC, and fault protection for industrial systemExperience with functional safety, risk assessment, and FMEA for safety-critical equipmentProven ability to lead product launches and cross-functional engineering initiativesStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
