Job Description

The Finance Accountant is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting, reconciliation, compliance, and audit support functions within a regulated gaming environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all financial activities are accurately recorded, reviewed, and reported, with particular emphasis on accounts payable, cash flow, payroll review, and general ledger integrity. The Finance Accountant ensures timely payment of obligations, accurate tracking of cash in and cash out, and compliance with Tribal, federal, and regulatory requirements, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and gaming regulations.Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.Perform cash management and reconciliation of daily bank activity; informs management of available balance; inspects for fraudulence; reconciles credit card sale and refund transactions.Evaluate credit card transactions for accuracy; performs necessary corrections; and communicates findings with Management.Review monthly activity against budget and investigates variances.Maintain the General Ledger by reviewing posted transactions for accuracy and completeness, ensuring proper classification and compliance with accounting standards.Review monthly financial activity against approved budgets; investigate, analyze, and document variances; and communicate findings to management.Prepare and maintain account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, payroll, tax, and balance sheet accounts, ensuring all reconciling items are resolved timely.Track, record, and reconcile fixed assets; prepare monthly depreciation schedules; maintain fixed asset records within the General Ledger; coordinate annual physical inventory; tag new acquisitions; document asset disposals; and track asset movement throughout the property.Prepare monthly capital expenditure (CAPEX) summary reports and support capital project tracking.Reconcile and process payroll-related transactions, including biweekly and monthly payroll postings and reconciliations.Prepare and reconcile documentation and schedules required for tax payments and filings.Track and analyze cash flow, including daily cash inflows and outflows across casino operations, and prepare daily cash flow reports.Prepare, review, and post journal entries to the general ledger.Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.Analyze financial results and investigate variances, trends, and discrepancies.Ensure compliance with Tribal Gaming Ordinances, NIGC regulations, and internal controls.Coordinate with other departments to resolve financial issues and improve financial processes.Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries.Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Typically requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent and minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a casino gaming environment.Pay range: $28.00 - $36.40 per hour*Shift Differential:Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state-of-the-art air filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment.
