Title: Engineering Manager Location: Dallas, TX Position Type: Direct Hire Salary: $150K-$170K POSITION OVERVIEW Seeking an Engineering Manager who demonstrates a history of delivering profitable professional services alongside exceptional client satisfaction. The successful candidate thrives in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment. This role integrates technical expertise, leadership, and communication skills to oversee commissioning for Hyperscale, Enterprise, and Collocation Data Centers, Central Utility Plants (CUP), and Power Generation (combined heat & power; CHP) facilities. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Technical + Collaborate with senior management and staff to enhance and streamline commissioning processes, resource allocation, core services, standards, and procedures. + Oversee commissioning, energy consulting, and management of complex mechanical/electrical systems for local, national, and international clients. + Direct teams from multiple disciplines to execute projects across various locations. + Function as the primary technical contact, managing direct coordination with customersu2019 technical teams and contractors. + Develop and review commissioning plans, technical reports, method of procedures, specifications, cost estimates, and studies. + Identify and resolve design and operational issues throughout the commissioning process. + Supervise commissioning efforts, ensuring projects adhere to scope, fee, and schedule. + Perform site observations, review contract documentation, create and carry out functional test plans for mechanical and control systems. Understanding of building codes and industry standards (ASHRAE, LEED) is advantageous. + Experience with applying and implementing electrical/mechanical test instrumentation is preferred. + Familiarity with NETA Electrical Acceptance Testing guidelines is beneficial. + Working knowledge of Life Safety systems is desirable. Project Management + Manage projects, teams, client relationships, scopes, budgets, and schedules. + Define and manage deliverables with customers and project teams to meet project objectives. + Communicate and clarify client requirements, expectations, and best practices effectively. + Deliver all aspects of hardware, information, and services on time and in compliance with technical specifications. + Provide clients with regular status updates covering technical activities, schedule progress, risks, budget, and forecasts. + Ensure prompt identification and resolution of punch-list items. + Archive and distribute site quality control documentation and test reports to relevant customer service staff. + Review budgets to confirm adequacy for design and supply requirements. Development + Source new clients and opportunities, sustaining existing relationships and marketing for related new business. + Evaluate design documents and generate project proposals and ROM pricing in response to client inquiries. + Take part in presentations and meetings for pre-award and contract negotiations. + Support and build new business relationships and opportunities. + Oversee strategic client relationships and seek upsell opportunities. + Collaborate with senior management for long-term planning + Assist in employee development and training initiatives Administrative + Coordinate internal scheduling of resources. + Review expense reports and timesheets submitted by direct reports. + Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports. + Work with management to implement performance improvement systems. Safety + Adhere to and promote workplace safety policies and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience + Bacheloru2019s degree in engineering with 10-15 years of relevant experience in commissioning and project management of electrical, mechanical, controls systems for critical buildings, OR + At least 15 years of experience as a commissioning agent with practical expertise in implementation and project management of electrical, mechanical, and controls systems for critical facilities. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities + Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills. + Strong time management; capability to handle tight schedules. + Resourcefulness and quick resolution of complex, fast-paced challenges. + Ability to analyze and discuss Mission Critical systems in terms understandable to non-technical stakeholders. + Fiscal responsibility related to project budgets and expectations. + Leadership under client project pressures; serve as a role model. + Ability to mentor and provide expertise for direct reports. + Participate in hiring processes for direct report positions when necessary. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; Google Suite familiarity is a plus. Certifications/Licenses/Training + EIT, PE, CEM, DCEP, LEED, CEM credentials are a plus. + BCxP, CBCP, CCP & PMP credentials a plus. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT + Permanent, full-time role; Monday to Friday, daytime schedule. + Hybrid work from Dallas with travel as required. + Extensive travel locally, nationally, and occasionally internationally, estimated at 20%u201340% of the year. Mondays and Fridays serve as travel days; Tuesdayu2013Thursday are on-site days. Employees typically return home Fridays for weekends, unless business needs require otherwise. + May occasionally involve work outside normal business hours, such as evenings/weekends, to suit maintenance windows or mission-critical schedules. + The work environment includes high-energy locations like central plants, switchgear rooms, and power transmission areas typically found in Mission Critical facilities, such as Power Generation Plants and Data Centers. _This job description outlines the essential functions of the job.
